Default Man wakes up from surgery to see his wife for the first time, again.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but I thought it was good for a laugh.

I loved it, but some people think it might have fabricated because the guy's youtube channel only has one vid, his picture page has one picture, and he is apparently a professional actor.

Does anesthesia provide memory loss? Hubby came out of it and didn't forget who I was. I find this video to be kinda bogus.

    I think it's bogus, too.

Hubby was pretty out of it when he came out of it from his colonoscopy (Still can't remember everything he said to me) but I wouldn't be surprised if it was fake.

After anesthesia, I was very fuzzy and a bit disoriented but did not have memory loss. I recognized every one who was at my bedside upon waking up. I say it's a fake.

When I was on valium alone before having my wisdom teeth out, I apparently told a little old man in the waiting room all about my sex life. I vaguely remember talking to him, but I don't remember what I said. My mother, however, remembers VERY clearly and was so embarrassed, she dragged me into the bathroom next to the lobby until they called my name to take me back.

Again, I think it could go either way. Different people respond different ways to anesthesia.

I am a talker, when I come out from anesthesia. The only thing I remember saying, after every surgery, is if I can have my pain meds. Apparently, I am cognizant to realize that shit is going to hurt, once the anesthesia wears off. Other than that, I remember nothing, even thought I am allegedly a Chatty Cathy post-op.

Slightly OT, but one of the more morbidly amusing things I've seen, is when they gave my oldest son Versed pre-op. He was talking, being a normal 2.5yo, the anesthesiologist dosed him, and he was done for. He was still talking and stuff, but you could so tell, that the lights were on, and no one was home.

Just checked again. It's real! Finally, there is some other guy out there who feels like I do. Here is one of the follow up stories:

Couple in viral hospital video: 'He didn't remember a thing'

A video featuring a Utah man in a post-surgery haze who thinks he hit the "jackpot" when he sees his wife has received millions of views, but also has drawn skeptics questioning its authenticity.

It turns out the nearly three-minute video on YouTube was just the short version of Jason Mortensen playfully falling in love with his wife Candice all over again following hernia surgery last month. The couple appeared live on TODAY Wednesday to talk about their sweet interlude gone viral and maintained that it's all real.
“He had been acting like that for about 20 minutes before I pulled out my phone,’’ Candice Mortensen said. “I finally realized, I need to get this on video so he can see how he acts, and so I can show people because I was alone, so I was excited. He genuinely didn’t remember a thing about that when I showed him the video.”
Jason had no recollection of the banter with the blonde by his bedside after emerging from surgery. In the video, he asks, “Did the doctor send you? Man, you are eye candy. Whoa! You must be the prettiest woman I’ve ever seen. Are you a model?”
Jason and Candice Mortensen's viral video

Candice then informs him that she is his wife as he slowly munches a cracker on his hospital gurney.
“You’re my wife?!’’ he replies. “Holy (expletive). Dang.”
He then asks her if they have children and if they have kissed yet before being told that they have been married a long time.
“Oh my God,’’ he says. “I hit the jackpot. That’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Let me see your face. Whoa, your teeth are perfect.”
This was Jason’s fifth surgery for a hernia injury, and apparently not the first time he has been a little loopy when coming out from anesthesia.
“I’ve had surgeries previously, and I guess I’ve been a weirdo during all of them,’’ he said on TODAY Wednesday. “Thank goodness she had the peace of mind to pull out the camera this time, or the sense of mind.”
Jason's surgery was just the latest in a six-year string of procedures to fix tears from a previous herniasurgery. He told TODAY that the surgeries have severely reduced the couple's chance to naturally conceive a child. They are currently in the process of adopting a child from Uganda.
A Slate.com story speculates that the video may be a hoax, quoting a psychologist saying that anesthesia would not wipe out the memory of six years of marriage. Questions are also raised about how Candice was ready with her cell phone camera to film that moment, and why Jason would be wearing a hospital gown with a paw print on it. Slate also found an old headshot on an audition website of Jason, who is currently a vice president of sales at a pharmaceutical company in Utah, suggesting there may have been some acting involved.

This is a picture of them, by the way:

The video’s popularity also comes in the wake of Jimmy Kimmel admitting on Sept. 9 that his staff staged a fake video depicting a girl catching on fire while twerking by candelight in her room. That led to speculation that the Mortensens’ video was a hoax, too.
“I heard that on Jimmy Kimmel some video was faked, and I can understand all the skepticism,’’ Jake said. “I talked to my doctor yesterday, and he says he’s gotten like 150 phone calls, so I finally gave him permission to tell them that I had the surgery.”
Jason’s surgeon, Dr. Paul Robinson at Intermountain Healthcare Hospital in American Fork, Utah, confirmed to TODAY that he performed the operation on Jason. He added that Jason’s reaction was unusual, but not impossible. Robinson was not in the room when the video was shot.
The couple plans to save the video as a keepsake, and Candice might break it out as a reminder of Jason’s love during marital arguments.
“We’re just surprised how viral it’s gone so fast, but everyone we’ve showed it to just loved it as much as we did,’’ Candice said. “(We’ll) bring out for remembrance, and show it to our kids some day.”
“That will be some good leverage (for Candice),’’ Jason joked.

Here is a clip that shows them, at the 1:29 point, being interviewed on Today:

    She really is very beautiful.

To be honest, I didn't doubt it much. My brother had major surgery when he was 16. He woke up and he didn't recognise any of us. He was so scared, it really wasn't funny at all.

I guess since her husband was always acting loopy she had the camera phone at the ready to have a good laugh. To be honest I'd hate it if someone did that to me. I also hated that video with the kid who is acting nutty after the dentist and wondering if this is real life. But I'm sort of private about thing like that, I guess.

And you can't plan this sort of thing. I was under general anesthesia for wisdom tooth extraction and my wife and the doctor walked me to the recovery area after I regained consciousness. I just remember feeling really, really out of it.

valium at the dentist oh my god, my mom who isn't very nice while not high embarrassed the fuck out of me. I guess she thought she was whispering but she wasn't, started going on and on about this woman who came in clutching her purse. Mom: look at that bitch, what does she think someone's gonna steal her purse, fucking moron she must be crazy etc... I finally told the receptionist to get her out of the lobby and now lol.

Me on valium was pretty funny too, my bro took me and didn't want to wait inside so he came in dropped me off and went to the car so here I am high as giraffe pussy trying to read a magazine and I notice this man staring at me, so I start hiding behind the mag, and trying to read and I kept reading the same word over and over and just started dying laughing, that's the last thing I remember

I don't remember this, but after surgery the let my Mom come into recovery and I said "Mom,see that man over there? He is selling paper plates but they are hand painted! We ought to buy some." then fell back to sleep. Mother said there was no man anywhere.

Slightly off topic, but Mr. Lola once embarrassed the hell out of both of us at his company Christmas party. They have casino games for raffle tickets every year; we were playing black jack and poker and wound up at the same table as his boss. I hadn't realized just how drunk hubby was (Hubby almost never drinks, btw, and has a very low tolerance) until he leaned over and whisper-shouts at me something like, "DO YOU KNOW WHAT I WANT TO DO TO YOU LATER!" and then starts to give me a list of delicious depravity which would be fun if we were alone, but instead had me grabbing him by the lapel and dragging him away from his boss, lol.

He was mortified in the morning. He is NOT a 'kiss and tell' sort to begin with.
