Default Adding Monsters to Thrift Store mediocrity

I love thrifting (for the finds both good and very, very bad) so this one is near an dear to me

Adding Monsters to Thrift Store Paintings

'Have you ever been to a thrift store (think Goodwill or Salvation Army) and noticed that they usually carry a small selection of landscape paintings? Artists Chris McMahon and Thryza Segal decided to inject a little fun into these discarded works and give them a second life by adding monsters to the scenic landscapes.
The trick is to match the paint originally used (e.g., acrylic or oil) and try to blend the monsters into the original scene as if they were always there. It can be a challenge if the original is too textured or old but the results (below) speak for themselves. Itís a fun exploration and one the Sifter enjoyed. Hope you do as well!

This isn't quite as good, but its still got a few good ones. They're basically inserting muppets and popular animated figures into famous paintings in the same style the originals were painted in
Batman and Darth Vader invade art history, in these absolutely deranged paintings

Too funny! That second one kinda reminds me of a twisted Kinkade.

Default I am the second artist mentioned in the article

Hi-Thanks for noticing my art! Thanks also for all the positive comments- I appreciate it-
I am a junk store hound too! I got started on this monster kick a few years ago when my brother got me to paint a Godzilla into a tourist painting he had of the Golden Gate Bridge...then I started making polymer clay monsters and aliens for terrariums (thyrza.ca).... and recently I have been painting my aliens onto cheesy thrift store prints.
I wanted to let you all know I have an album of all the before and after scans of the pictures here.
The loose theme of the series is the exploration of what sorts of Earth activities aliens would like to do while they are on vacation here...

This guy came to Earth to go to a dude ranch to try to rope some cowboys:

This alien loves water sports on his home planet but is too light to swim on Earth- The gravity is too low....That doesn't deter this alien though- He decided to become the water skiing boat if he couldn't be the water skier:

This young lady alien has taken a summer job acting as a tour guide for other aliens to see the fabulous wilderness of Earth:

I am planning to make prints for sale (if anyone is interested) and will let you know when I have them on Etsy but it won't happen until August at least...
