She's pretty much the only French actor/actress who's ever managed to grab leading roles in big American movies as a non-French person. Think about it. Germans, Austrians, Italians, Spaniards, Australian, Brits, Scots, Russians, etc? No problem! Oh you're French? Play a Frenchman/woman! Except if you're Vincent Cassel, then you can also play an eastern European (=>Eastern Promises).

Plus, she choses her roles really well, is truly beautiful despite her horrible sense of style and makeup, and is a good actress.

I think it helps that she doesn't have a thick French accent. What can you do with all the others? Maybe if they can fake a different accent they would get parts. I'd add Charlotte Gainsbourg as someone who's not only played Frenchies but she's half, isn't she? I love Charlotte.

As French actresses go, I'd love to see Marion Cotillard make it big in Hollywood. The woman is stunning.

eva's half swedish half french (her mum's a famous french actress) and she lived in london so she doesn't really have much of a french accent in english.
charlotte gainsbourg is half british and speaks perfect english. in 'i'm not there' she has a french accent but it's definitely fake for the movie because she doesn't have it.
