Radar Online | Sex Assault Accuser Michael Egan Withdraws Lawsuit Against John Doe 2

Cases Dismissed! Sex Assault Accuser Michael Egan Withdraws Lawsuits Against Anonymous Defendants Presumed To Be ‘X-Men’ Director Bryan Singer, Garth Ancier, David Neuman and Gary Goddard
    Posted on Aug 27, 2014 @ 12:07PM

More than four months after Michael Egan III launched explosive allegations of sexual abuse against Hollywood bigwigs, the lawsuits he filed against the men are crumbling. RadarOnline.com has learned that Egan has voluntarily dismissed four cases he filed in California against anonymous defendants, presumed to be X-Men director Bryan Singer, media executive Garth Ancier, TV honcho David Neuman, and former Disney exec Gary Goddard.
According to a notice of dismissal filed on August 22 in California, Egan has dismissed the case he filed against “John Doe 2,” presumed to be Singer, as well as cases against defendants presumed to be Ancier, Neuman and Goddard.

READ The Bombshell Request For Dismissal
Just days before, on August 20, Egan filed documents asking a federal court to dismiss the cases he had filed against those same individuals in Hawaii, claiming he is unable to find an attorney to represent him. He said in the motion to dismiss that the move “has little to do with the strength of [Singer’s] defense, but rather, it is a consequence of the current circumstances regarding my case, my lack of legal counsel, and my inability to proceed in this matter acting on my own behalf.”

Egan’s attorney did resign from the case in Hawaii, and had a motion pending to withdraw from representing Egan in California before the cases there were dismissed. But an insider tells Radar that his claims he is representing himself are bogus, and that he actually has been consulting with John Manly and Vince Finaldi of Manly, Stewart & Finaldi in Irvine, California.
In fact, the firm has already served pleadings on Egan’s behalf, including the Hawaii notice of dismissal, which was filed by Manly and Finaldi’s secretary, Kathy Frederiksen. The firm’s contact information is also included on the filing, and Egan has admitted in other pleadings that Manly and Finaldi have provided “advising” services to him.

But despite those clues, Egan insists he wants the case dismissed — for now. He has asked the case to be dismissed “without prejudice,” which would give him the option to file again at any time.

Singer hit back with a filing saying the case should be dismissed with prejudice, and that Egan should be hit with costs and fees associated with the original lawsuit.

“By allowing Egan to walk away from this lawsuit now, without any consequences whatsoever, would be inherently prejudicial to Singer,” his lawyer said in court papers.

The judge will hear Singer’s motion for summary judgment on September 9 in Hawaii.

Meanwhile, the only other pending litigation between Egan and his legal targets is a lawsuit that Ancier filed against him and his former attorneys for “malicious prosecution and abuse of process” in Hawaii.

I don't think there was any secret payoff if:

    1) Ancier still has an active lawsuit against Egan and his former attorneys.
    2) Egan his asking for dismissal of his suit "without prejudice" (reserving the right to file later).

The NYPD Special Victims Unit is investigating a claim that X-Men director Bryan Singer sexually assaulted a man last year in New York, Buzzfeed reported Thursday evening.

According to Buzzfeed, which broke the story, the commanding officer of the NYPD's public information office
confirmed on Wednesday that police have been investigating a complaint, filed in May, accusing Singer of a "criminal sex act" on March 23, 2013. The victim is reportedly a male in his twenties.

In New York, a criminal sex act is defined as "oral sexual conduct or anal sexual conduct" either forcibly, or with a person who is incapable of giving consent.

The Buzzfeed story also notes that
Singer's Twitter account indicates he spent the day of the alleged assault in Denville, New Jersey at an ice cream shop located about an hour outside of Manhattan (according to Google Maps).

Singer's attorney, Marty Singer, had some choice words for Buzzfeed,
accusing its writers of being on a "witch hunt against [Singer] because he is gay."

The respected director and producer's sex life has been in the headlines since April, when he was sued by Michael Egan and a second, anonymous plaintiff for allegedly assaulting them when they were teenagers. Both plaintiffs later dropped their lawsuits.

What money, power and intimidation can do. I hope the NYPD doesn't let this one go!

Man who accused Bryan Singer and others of sex crimes scolded by judge for lying in court | Gay Star News

Michael Egan, the man who accused X-Men director Bryan Singer and other Hollywood players of sex abuse before dropping his case, did not have a very good day in court.

Egan appeared before a judge in Hawaii on Friday (24 October) in a malicious prosecution lawsuit brought by Garth Ancier, one of the other men he accused.

The judge called Egan out for lying when he claimed to not have had legal assistance in preparing his legal documents.

Judge J. Michael Seabright was not buying it.

'Well, that's not true. I mean, facially that's not true,' the judge said, according to a transcript obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

'You understand this is a court of law.… You understand if you lie to me you'd get in trouble,' Seabright said.

The judge noted that documents had been emailed from the Orange County law firm of Manly, Stewart & Finaldi.

When Egan claimed he sought legal help because he didn't know how to file pleadings the judge said: 'You don't know how to get a stamp and put it on an envelope and write your return address on it and then mail it? You don't know how to do that?
'I'm not buying this.… I'm a smart guy, I get it, and don't underestimate me.'

The judge said the law firm would have to fully represent Egan in the case or not at all. The firm indicated it would not be representing Egan at all.

The hearing was in Hawaii because that is where Egan filed his original case and alleges some of the abuse took place. But his suit fell apart under sworn statements he had made in 2003 emerged in which he said he had never been to Hawaii.

^ That headline is misleading. I thought the judge scolded him about lying about the incident, he just lied about having legal help.

Default Accuser of ‘X-Men’ director accused of investment fraud

Accuser of ‘X-Men’ director accused of investment fraud

A former Charlotte resident, who earlier this year accused a group of Hollywood executives of molesting him when he was a teenager, has been indicted on charges that he defrauded investors.

Michael Francis Egan III, 32, faces up to 40 years in prison and a $5.25 million fine if convicted, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Anne Tompkins of Charlotte.

Public records indicate that Egan has lived in Charlotte and Gastonia.

Earlier this year, Egan sued four top entertainment industry executives, claiming they sexually abused him when he was a teen model. His targets included “X-Men” director Bryan Singer, whom Egan accused of molesting him in Hawaii in 1999.
The time had passed for criminal charges to be filed in any of the cases, and Singer denied the allegations. Egan later dropped the lawsuits, though a judge in Hawaii gave him the option in August to refile the suit against Singer at a later date.

In the indictment handed down in Charlotte this week, Egan is accused of a five-year financial scheme in which he attracted investors by lying about his assets – Egan claimed he owned percentages of well-known hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, among other claims – and his connections to banking executives and investment moguls.

He promised customers returns from investments in Halloween-theme attractions, television shows and land development. Instead, Egan used the capital to pay rent, buy groceries, underwrite medical bills and restaurant tabs, and take care of his pets, prosecutors say.

Egan hid his activity, investigators say, by creating account statements to reflect fraudulent balances.

The indictment charges him with securities fraud and wire fraud. He is to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge David Cayer on Jan. 13.

According to public records, a Mecklenburg County court in 2011 leveled a $160,000 judgment against Egan in a complaint filed by a Cornelius couple. It remains unpaid.
