If a person identified with one gender - in my book - its polite to use that gender.
In a less offensive way, if someone wanted to be known by another name, would you not use that name until it was legal? Or when they asked to be called "face" instead of "baby"? I know its a stupid example but I thought that it might explain?

Putting it this way makes a lot of sense to me. Thank You

No problem we all have stuff that we need to refer to others about. I struggle with the socially acceptable terns for different ethnicities, so just steer well clear to stay out of trouble.

Same here -- it's a slip, not malice.

It's really more about malicious intent, and that's why just a reminder was put here instead of outright banning anyone who made comments like that. The only times people in the past have been banned for it was when they were homophobic jackasses about it when people said something to them about gendered pronouns.

Ok but Tommy Girl is still ok, right? Unless discriminating against DBs is against the rules now.

The parents are probably devasted because their child will be thought of as a freak by many if not most.

There is a transgender (male to female) in our community, but he's clearly a man, but with boobs, and he's looked upon as a freak. Some of the looks he/she gets from other men is scary. And women laugh at him. Its probably a lonely life.

Phew! If people who used Tommy Girl were banned, half the users on this forum would be gone

    1. I feel sorry for your neighbour, they need to mice, not all communities are as ignorent nor hateful.
    2. Don't mistake a transgender person for a transvestite, they are different things.

I'm not sure we should be calling her a him yet. Have the Beatty Family officially announced this? If they haven't then we are being presumptuous.
Oh, I offended you with my opinion? You should hear the ones I keep to myself.
