I'll second that about watching him in anything

Poe was an interesting person. I could see this as a really good movie if done right.

I never realized how many families married within itself especially when wanting to keep the family wealth in the family.

^^I may be wrong, but I don't think it's ever been done with a great script, an interesting actor, and a prestigious director.

I love Viggo and won't mind one bit if he does this, but the part of Poe was maaade for Johnny Depp.

I love Poe, but I'm not thrilled about the idea of Viggo Mortensen playing him. I would've liked to have seen a younger Christopher Walken or maybe Alan Rickman.

I hope I'm totally wrong and he nails it, tho.

I can see Viggo in the role but Depp would be brilliant.

Viggo is great & I'm sure he will be a fantastic Poe on screen. Although, like someone already said, I too would prefer Robert Downey Jr. for this part.

That said - & if this is actually true - can't wait to see it done, I love Poe.

Yeah, people tended to look older for their age back then anyway.

Lets see Poe died in Baltimore; the cause of his death is unknown but has been attributed to alcohol, brain congestion, cholera, drugs, heart disease, rabies, suicide, tuberculosis, and other agents.. at the Richmond Museum they said he died of diabetes.

Well that should give old Viggo something to sink his acting chops into... quote the Peach "never more"
Ah, yes. Those of us native to Baltimore are so proud of Edgar. Didn't he also die (or was found dying) in a gutter? Heck, they even named their football team after The Raven.

I think Daniel Day Lewis would be a good choice.

Edgar Allan Poe Museum : Richmond Virginia : Features Poe's Works, Relics, Photos, and Life

we went to the Poe museum in Richmond Va (he worked there) for a school project, it was the first time I had ever heard he died of diabetes (or so they thought) until then I had heard he was drunk and drowned.

I stand by Edward Norton.. um who has a bit of the drinking problem his darn self or so says Salma.
