I'm going to give him credit for a few things. First, he is a private person, and doing this had to be hard. Second he never tried to blame what he did on whatever he is in treatment for. He accepted full responsibilty, which is refreshing, considering the spin we usually get. Third, he says what is going on between him and Elin will stay between them, and fourth, he showed geniune emotion when talking about the paps stalking his kids, and the media blaming his wife for any of this.
It in no way changes anything he has done, but I like that he didn't try to shift the blame, and even said he did it because he could. And bonus points because he never once used the word addiction, just said he is in therapy.

Edited to say...the it's between his and his wife should be true, but once the tabloids and mainstream media started covering this story 24/7, it wasn't a private matter anymore. I think the public apology was in part FOR Elin, since she has had her life dragged thru the media.

If your a celebrity of Tiger Woods stature, and your appeal to advertisers is 50% based on your impeccable personal reputation, then you need to realize that you need to live your life above reproach. And of course the title of this web site implies that we are talking about stuff that isn't necessarily our business.

And I wouldn't be surprised at all if some company is out there using Tiger to sell Bibles. Until recently, he has been treated like a walking deity.

and if the douchebag didn't feel it was the public's business, why have it televised?

Public apologies are meaningless. Even when someone says I'm sorry to me, it doesn't have any meaning. Think about it - nobody is really sorry. They get annoyed and embarrassed when they get caught, because you know they wanted to do 'whatever' a lot longer. These apologies are so heavy with
    political correctness too.

He's pissed he got caught and now it's going to be more difficult to have hotel room dates. There's some guy out there who's going to be Tiger's mistress-beard.

I'd love to smash Gloria Allred's face in. Talk about a media whore who wouldn't know a principle if it bit her in the ass.

I think he got a heavy-duty wake up call. Pretty bad when even your Mother is disgusted with you. I don't know of he was sincere or not-time will tell. He thought he could have it all & was untouchable. I think reality would have to have set in by now. It sure would with me! He is going to pay a heavy price for this-loss of income, sponsers-not even to mention his family. While I too believe a leapard can't change his spots, I do think some people can radically turn their lives around. We shall see.

i don't believe a word of it and i don't care either. and i don't understand why people do and why he has to come out and make a big public mea culpa. i mean, i understand why - because of his sponsors and because people care that he didn't live up to his family man image, i'm just saying, i don't understand why people care and if i were a golf fan, i wouldn't be any less of a fan of his game after the 13 mistresses and ambien-gate than before.
as for his wife, if they didn't have an arrangement, they probably do now and she's also probably millions of dollars richer and stands to get millions more if they do divorce.
and if people are nave enough to think this is sincere, that he's actually sorry for his behaviour and that this type of behaviour is uncommon in his world or that of any public figure (the only difference is tiger got caught), well i'd like to live in their world full of puppies and rainbows. must be nice.
but apparently a lot of people are because after this, the sponsors will come back, he'll be the 'new' tiger woods, and everything will go back to the way it was and he'll continue to play brilliant golf and fuck whores on the side only after they've signed confidentiality agreements, and the masses can go back to loving tiger and buying his gillette razors, because he said he was sorry.

That's how I see it, not that I even care personally what kind of man he is or what kind of marriage he has. He may even really feel remorseful but I would chalk it up to more likely being in response to all the scrutiny and feeling embarrassed than anything. There are too many symptoms of narcissism at play here and those folks simply do not change.

Also, as far as 'taking full responsibility' goes, that is getting kind of played out, too. It's like someone got the memo that it would be refreshing to see someone admit guilt and take blame for once instead of making excuses.............and it was refreshing at first. But now it's almost like people figure if they go ahead and take full responsibility peoples' anger will subside more quickly and they'll at least score a few PR points, so I suspect that taking the blame is another calculated move.

I don't understand the public apology anyway. The people he hurt he can apologize to in private.

I'm the one feeling it's none of my business, I don't think Tiger ever said it wasn't his fans business. For me it's TMI and because of the big media fodder it's been made a bigger deal than it is. I still think it's between two consenting adults, the only one not consenting was his wife, now if she had gone along with the program all would be OK -- I'm kidding ya'll

I watched that. I have no sympathy for this woman. Portraying this mistress as someone who was also betrayed. Geez.... If only this woman would admit she was responsible for making her own mistake in having a Tiger affair. "I never meant to hurt Elin or his kids." Bullshit.

Well from what I've heard, he may come by the bahavior fairly honestly. I think mama was a pro in her earlier life. And certainly papa Woods was no believer in monogamy.

Frankly, I'm giving him props for not saying the dreaded IF he offended anyone. I also think it was a step in the right direction (or maybe he finally talked to some decent handlers) that he acknowledged that his words don't mean squat. It's action (or non action) that matters.
