I guess that explains the T Shirt. I must say that Hilary is proving a more entertaining and inventive liar than I'd imagined. First her little exaggeration about Sir Edmond Hilary - claiming that she was named after him though being born 3 years before he scaled Everest, and now the Bosnia story. I'm waiting for her to claim that she was the one who really saved PT 109! Oh yeah, and George Washington's cherry tree, she did that too!

    Yeah, that's the ticket

She also single handedly carved out Mount Rushmore with a soup spoon. Not to mention that she broke the Mafia, disguised as J Edgar Hoover - although that did give rise to the rumors that Hoover was a transvestite. I just hope all this exaggeration doesn't point to some kind of pathological character flaw.

I wouldn't vote for someone for their skin color and I wouldn't not vote for someone for their skin color (pardon the double-neg). After the last eight years, we just desperately need someone who will do a damn good job. Ugh.

The only time I feel remotely violent is when I see some dumbass with a Bush/Cheney sticker on their car. Seriously, wtf?! Who wants to brag about voting for that train wreck?

Obama, Hillary, either, both. I honestly don't care at this point. Every politician knows how to lie and does. I think HC is pretty damn smart. I think Obama is pretty damn smart. I just want someone who will not make me ashamed to be an American when I am traveling overseas- they hear a Southern accent and automatically assume I am a Bush supporter. Ugh. The number one question I get is how in the devil did Bush get elected, not once, but TWICE?!

Oh, got carried away there for a minute. What I find interesting is that prominent and not so prominent Black Americans feel a need to 'justify' their choice of supporting Obama. For example a Black associate of mine's is supporting Obama, and her reasoning is that Hillary has so much dirt on her that is going to be exposed that Barrack is a better choice. Huh, I was like, WTF? And here we have Spike using the 'sniper' story so now Obama is better. Like Obama has never engaged in a bit of embellishment about his past himself, right?

Anyhoo, in my opinion I feel that some Blacks do not want to admit that they support Obama because he is Black, one of their "own." They want to use some other reason, any reason, than a racial one. And I don't fault those that do, because I can see where they are coming from. It's not "P.C." these days to support anyone because of their race, or at least not P.C. to say it outright but instead through "code."

Hell, I'm not Black but I would vote for Obama because he IS Black. Why not, out of all the candidates out of this entire lackluster group, why not go ahead and make history by casting a vote for a Black president of America. I think that it would show the world how far we have come, and that Black Americans can finally be proud of one of their own being the leader of one of the most powerful nation on earth.

    But that's just me.
I agree with you. But the same could be said for some of the women who are backing Hillary. They don't want to admit that her gender is a primary reason for backing her, so they feel like they need to justify it, partially by trying to pretend that being First Lady qualifies somebody to be president.

Now, I'll admit that I would love to see a black president. But I wouldn't back any black person running for office like Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. It has to be somebody who I think is competent, intelligent and who I think could do a good job. Because I damn sure wouldn't want the first black president to be some idiot like Jackson or Sharpton. There's nothing wrong if somebody's race or gender plays a role in your decision, just as long as it's not the primary, or sole reason, you're backing them.

As for Do The Right Thing, you're right that was a more honest look at race than Crash, even though I liked Crash. But Do The Right Thing wasn't preachy, it was just in your face. Same with American History X.

School Daze took a hard look at inner racism, that divided complexions, as well as educated blacks amongst each other. That brought a lot to the surface.

Yeah, School Daze touched on the black-on-black racism in an honest, and creative, way.

Having Barack Obama as president could change everything for your country - it could be a revolution in perception. I hope he makes it!

The PT109 JFK story is mostly bullshit, but it never hurt his reputation.

For some reason, I forgot what I was going to post here. I just keep getting Rosie Perez dancing to Public Enemy stuck in my mind.
