I think it's chicken/egg. People who are suffering early symptoms of mental illness tend to self-medicate anyway so maybe those people would still have become sick without the pot/alcohol/other drug.

Her beautiful song helped make the series finale of Six Feet Under one of the greatest ever. So moving. I can't imagine a dry eye while watching that.

It seems perfectly clear to me.
    As for bipolar....
Cannabis-Induced Bipolar Disorder with Psychotic Features
"Clinicians agree that cannabis use can cause acute adverse mental effects that mimic psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Although there is good evidence to support this, the connections are complex and not fully understood. ...... Here we present a case of a college student who initially suffered from an acute psychotic breakdown secondary to cannabis abuse that manifested into bipolar disorder with psychosis."

Honey, thank you for posting this, I had never heard of this talented and burdened woman before.

I really DID misread this. I missed the word don't. I read I think its fed up childhood [that caused my bipolar disorder].

Although this is what was actually said:

I dont think its fed up childhood [that caused my bipolar disorder]

I have no excuses. I will now back out of this thread.

I think it can be both - some people showing the early signs of mental illness self medicate and others have a predisposition that is accelerated or triggered by heavy pot use, particularly if they are going for the high strength strains.
