Read the book titled, 'Fascinating Womanhood', published I think around 1964. You'll kill yourself.

She's 78 ( and looking damn good BTW). Women of her generation often think like this. My mother is only a couple of years older and she basically thinks that men should be on pedestals and women should worship at their feet (bringing offerings of food, drink, laundry and sex on demand of course). They never got the memo on feminism in the 21st century.

Shirley Bassey - hey, my mother even shares the name - has a reputation for being the biggest cunt in the business.

My grandma thought this way. Women shouldn't be cops and if there was a female driving the bus, she would wait for the next one.

Give me a break, I'm 65 and I didn't fall for that crap. Yeah we did all that, but we didn't like it. This why we rebelled in the 70's. I fought too hard to be treated equally (not there yet though) to listen to this old bat spout off this ridiculous crap.

My grandma actually cut me out of her will for attending law school because in her opinion, I wouldn't be able to find a husband if I was "too educated"- men wouldn't like it and would see me as masculine. She discouraged my mom from attending medical school for the same reason. My mom became a nurse instead of a doctor and regrets it to this day even though she's retired.

My grandma actually had a contingency on our trust funds about marriage and the age we'd have to be married by to get the money.

    She is definitely old school...

How awful, and how medieval, Nicki. It's bad enough when men pull stuff like that.

What I can't believe is how women back in the day used Lysol for "feminine cleanliness". The ads were so shaming.

She was a jewel of a wife, with just one flaw.....she had fishcunt.

Neither do I. That's why we let the men do the thinking.

Ha, reminds me of a holiday the other year. My father's friend, who is from Peru, and his much younger second or third wife, were at dinner with us. Somehow the topic of cleaning came up. The Dr, from Peru, said that his wife had to mop the tile floor once a week. I'm like ugh, I haven't mopped my floor yet and used a swiffer sweeper like, once every few months. The look on their faces were priceless. I just said hey, my husband doesn't care.

All my older heroines are turning out to be assholes. If Maggie Smith and Judi Dench go down this road, I don't know what I'll do. All I'll have left will be Dorcas Lane, and she's a fictional character.

Oh, Twitchy, you might want to sit down. I need to tell you something you may find upsetting.
