I vaguely remember him talking about his childhood and family in some early interviews. His father is an addict and Shia was exposed to/witnessed a lot of his father's behaviors, as well as having to be the bread winner for his family at times (as a child) and today:

    From Shia's Wiki:

LaBeouf has described his parents as "hippies", his father as "tough as nails and a different breed of man", and his upbringing as similar to a "hippy lifestyle", stating that his parents were "pretty weird people, but they loved me and I loved them."[7][9][16] During his childhood, he accompanied his father to meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous.[6] LaBeouf has also said he was subjected to verbal and mental abuse by his father, who once pointed a gun at his son during a Vietnam War flashback.[9] LaBeouf has stated that his father was "on drugs" during his childhood, and was placed in drug rehabilitation for heroin addiction, while LaBeouf's mother was "trying to hold down the fort."[7]
His parents eventually divorced, mainly owing to financial problems,[17] and LaBeouf had what he has described as a "good childhood", growing up poor in Echo Park with his mother, who worked selling fabrics and brooches.[18][19] LaBeouf's uncle was going to adopt him at one stage because his parents could not afford to have him anymore and "they had too much pride to go on welfare or food stamps."[20] As a way of dealing with his parents' divorce, he would perform for his family, mimicking his father.[21] LaBeouf remains close to and financially supports both of his parents.[6][7][22]

I watched him on the show Even Stevens when I was younger. I think he does have natural talent. It's too bad that his demons (any mental issues/unresolved issues from his childhood, probably exacerbated by drug use) are overshadowing his career/life.

    SHIA LABEOUF

    CHASED AROUND A HOMELESS GUY

    Hours Before Arrest

6/27/2014 8:25 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

    EXCLUSIVE

Before Shia LaBeouf got arrested and thrown out of a Broadway show ... he argued with a homeless guy on the streets of New York ... over a hat.

According to an eyewitness, a few hours before his arrest ... Shia confronted a homeless guy on the street. It appeared to the witness as if Shia thought the hat was his and Shia was trying to get it back.

You can see in the photos ... Shia is chasing after the homeless guy as he runs around holding the hat.

The eye witness tells TMZ, Shia was acting as if he knew the guy, but Shia seemed "whacked out" and was making no sense. The witness claims Shia kept saying, "It's me, Shia."

Default Shia LaBeouf Leaves Court Looking Disheveled: New Details on His Arrest and What's Ne

Shia LaBeouf is a free man—for now.

The Fury star was arraigned at Midtown Community Court around 10 a.m. Friday in New York City, less than 24 hours after he was escorted out of Broadway's Cabaret. The night prior, LaBeouf was arrested and charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal trespassing. The Transformers star was released on his recognizance, and his next court date is scheduled for July 24.

LaBeouf, 28, left the precinct wearing a tattered tee, skinny jeans and unlaced boots. The former Disney Channel star walked to a hotel several blocks away and declined to speak with reporters on the scene.

The New York City Police Department confirmed to E! News Thursday that LaBeouf was inside Studio 54 where he was being disruptive and smoking cigarettes. Security escorted him out. When police arrived, he was being disorderly. He was taken into custody and was transported to the Midtown North station.

I was thinking mental illness until I read the part about him falling down. Now I'm thinking drugs.

    Two words...Brad Renfro.

Shia isn't talented enough for people to put up with his shenanigans.

I kind of feel bad. I've always called him Shia LaDouche and still do, but I think something is seriously wrong. After reading about his parents being heroin addicts and his childhood, I can see the issue. It's no excuse of course. I hope he gets some help. Ugh, now I feel like a douche for feeling bad for LaDouche.

Feeling badly for him too. Yes, he's been a giant dork over the years. But something serious is up with him at the moment.

What the hell? This guy is losing it big time.
Shia LaBeouf -- Looking to Fight ... Outside NYC Strip Club (VIDEO) | TMZ.com
Shia LaBeouf was begging to get punched in the face outside of a strip club in New York earlier this month ... and we got footage of the face-off.

Shia got into a weird altercation with a strip club patron a week before his arrest at Studio 54. The video is clear .. LaBeouf is taunting the guy ... trying to convince him to throw a punch.

The photog says it's unclear why they were beefing ... moments later LaBeouf peaced out.

As we previously reported, an L.A. restaurant banned the actor last month after he peed on its outside wall.

There's also this incident from earlier this year, and this one from 2011.

    You see a pattern here?

WTF? Like homeless people don't have enough problems, now they're being chased around by Shia LaBeouf?

I feel sorry for Shia. It takes a very strong person to grow up with parents whom are addicts and not repeat the behavior themselves. I've heard of non famous addicts doing stuff just as odd/obnoxious as Shia but of course it doesn't make gossip websites. I don't think at this point that Shia is being a d-bag for attention--I think he is lost and needs help like any other person with mental illness or drug addiction.
