It would have only taken a few seconds to flash a picture of Both Farrah & Bea Arthur. You always see people in the "in memoriam" that you've never even heard of before.
^ Not a chance. The guy uttered one of the most memorable, saccharine lines in the history of movies. They'll likely have an entire segment devoted to "Love Story" when he goes.

why would he have writen a letter before if he didn't know that farrah was being omitted from the segment??
didn't they include brittany murphy? sorry, if they found the time to include her then then could have found a few seconds to include farrah. and certainly bea arthur - she had a very long career.
^ If he wants to ensure her immortality (famewhore or not) he needs to put a bit of work in. C'mon, the Oscars are planned.
no way. the dead people segment is one of my favourite parts of the whole thing.
exactly.
plus, why are they so desperate to make the oscars short? it's supposed to be about 4 hours, plus 2 hours of red carpet nonsense before hand. it's a whole evening of fun. you have time to eat, hang out, chat, get up and grab more booze during the boring parts. they can leave out the shitty musical parts but i want my dead people and long-winded acceptance speeches, dammit!![]()
I'm open to everything. When you start to criticise the times you live in, your time is over. - Karl Lagerfeld
I'm not even really a huge fan of Farrah Fawcett, but it's inexcusable that they included Michael Jackson, who had virtually NO ties to film, but snubbed Farrah and Bea Arthur.
Agree!
Besides, she was in two romantic comedies with...so please. I'm offended as well. Brittney Murphy but no Farrah. Same thing for Eartha Kitt. They need to get it together but I'm convinced with that Thank You Cam and no songs, the producers are assholes anyway.
And that's Alan J. Pakula, the director/producer.

While I definitely think Farrah should have been mentioned, I was absolutely livid that Bea Arthur was not. BEA FUCKING ARTHUR??? Are they kidding?
Only thing I can think of is they were going for people known mainly in the film/movie industry, and neither Bea nor Farrah were. Bea was television and Broadway, and Farrah was mainly a television star. Both might have been in movies at one time, but it wasn't their bread-and-butter.
But come ON...you mention some damn woman who nobody has heard of (I really can't remember the name...I think a costumier) but you can't slide in BEA FUCKING ARTHUR? Yeah, ok.
Farrah's last major acting role was in The Apostle, which was an Oscar nominated movie. They could've at least shown a still from it or something.
Why would they leave out well known actresses and include some behind the scenes people that the public never heard of? This is not a private industry event. It's the industry presenting itself to the public. There were several people I never heard of in my life, and didn't they include an agent? An agent? Are you freaking kidding me? What next? The head valet at the Chateau Marmonte?
