To all you Obama-haters...

Sorry that most of you seem to have bought in to Hillary's assessment of Obama as the candidate who lacks experience and concrete plans. NOT!

IF any of you have the intellectual curiosity to peruse his website, you'll find that Barack has the most specific plans and ideas of any candidate out there. I checked it out for myself and was amazed by the detail and specificity.

AS for EXPERIENCE.. grow up people! Obama has been ELECTED to two offices in two different realms.. state AND national politics. And he didn't do it because he had a famous last name like Hillary did. Hillary has only been elected on the national level. He has been in office for 10 years -- 7 in Illinois and 3 in the senate. Hillary has only 6 years under her belt. He's also been a Constitutional law professor and was the first black president of Harvard Law review. Enough experience for you Hillary Koolaid drinkers?

By the way... JOHN KERRY endorsed Obama today. Since you seem to disdain celebrity endorsements, is this good enough for you haters?

Not only would Hillary and Obama be a perfect ticket, but they would be virtually unbeatable.

Now, if the two of them would just stop sniping at each other long enough to realize that, at some point, they're going to need each other when one of them wins the nomination, then things would start falling into place.

I will be letting my thoughts known in this thread tomorrow. I'm just too buzzed and exhausted to do so now. But... this thread is not dying. Rosanne does not get to talk such inaccurate and false smack about Obama with out me weighing in. Just hold your fire 8 hours....

In the meantime, please check out this site to fact-check the allegations (the URL changes to something but it is a page SPECIFICALLY to fact-check bogus stories): Barack Obama | Change We Can Believe In |

I generally love Roseanne but not with her on the Obama thing. I agree Oprah is a sanctimonious, power-hungry control freak (like her good buddy TinyTomThumb) but still like Obama. Not sure yet who I'll vote for but I refuse to let Oprah put me off a person who might be a good candidate. I like some things about HIllary as well but won't let Roseanne, or anyone for that matter, tell me who to vote for.

Experience:

Obama -- 7 years in public service in Illinois
3 years in the senate... both national and state experience
Constitutional Law professor
President of Harvard Law Review

Enough for you?

Today JOHN KERRY endorsed him, commenting that he knows all the candidates very well and feels Obama is the best qualified.

Guess he knows something you HillBillies don't!!!

Oprah could have spent those millions she did building that school in Africa on inner city public school kids in America who are still using the books I did when I was in school. She might be a dark-skinned woman on the outside but she damn sure isn't racist. Now, I wouldn't call her power hungry because she's done a damn good job for herself. I dislike her because she is successful, I dislike her because of her phony behavior and her actions towards her own race of people made me feel this way about her.

Actually she has taken heat for backing him from her viewers. It's funny how no one turned against any other celebrity who supports a Presidential candidate!! I guess because she is black, and he is black it's racist and WRONG!! Hold up John Kerry WHITE, Ben Affleck WHITE... Al Gore WHITE, Leonardo Dicaprio WHITE...OOP'S...MY BAD but wouldn't that make them racist and wrong also!! Kerry is for Obama now so does that mean he hate his own race!!

Now, Roseanne Barr I've never had that much of a problem with, but where the hell do she get off telling someone who they can, or cannot endorse. I like Hilary and I've heard her plan. I liked Obama so so earlier, and was going for Hilary. I sat down, listened to what Obama was saying(not just the stump speeches) he has a plan. I really do believe that he can change this country, and that he is a uniter!! RACE SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, NEITHER DO GENDER!! It's the issues I care about!! Who fit's my beliefs and views the most, and who can WIN!! Roseanne is a Super feminist there is nothing wrong for that, but if you can't see past that..you need not have a voice on shit!!
You are totally missing the point of what I said about Oprah.
It is not the fact that she backs Obama that makes her
racist. It's her attitude toward guests on her show.

I'm colored and I belong to a minority that Oprah WOULD NOT
HUG if I were on her show, unless I was a millionaire. Sad, but
true. For the past, oh, say 10 years or so, it has become
increasingly clear that she - at least on the stage of her show -
appears much more interested and certainly warmer towards
her black guests (normal everyday people).
You can see it in make-over shows: black women can stand
in the spotlight longer, get more compliments, and sometimes
an additional hug. White women sometimes only get a
"Wow, you look good!" and then she turns back to the camera
and calls out the next. If it's a black lady, she can go on for
2 minutes. Crazy, but true.
I remember vividly one show, I think it was the one following
her idea to give everybody in the audience 1000 dollars to
spend on somebody else. I think a white lady gave her money
to a black friend or something and she had really maximized
what she could do with the amount, so the lady had the
fullest benefit of it. Unlike with the other stories, where it
was either white/white (least enthusiasm and screen time),
or white/minority (medium), or black/black (most interest
and screen time) in the case of the white giver and black
receiver, she did not spend more than maybe 5-10 sentences
directed to the giver (no physical contact) and then turned
to the black receiver of the money and hugged and then
talked for minutes to the person. The focus went from the
giver to the receiver, unlike all the other stories.
There are many more blatant examples of her attitude that
has noticably changed over the years. My mother is 85
and still very bright and she noticed the change for the
first time about 5 years ago, apart from Oprah's irritating
habit of constantly interrupting her guests or inviting
"experts" in thematic shows, and then give all the "expert"
advice herself, muzzling the invited experts.....

I read somewhere that Oprah only supports Obama because he's black. I'm not going to go 'Whoa what a dumb thing to say' because there might be some truth to it. Do I think Oprah is a little racist? From what I've seen, yes.

I don't like Hilary Clinton due to her role in backing censorship, especially her past support for the PMRC. Apart from that I reckon the American election is a choice between 'the puppet on the left' and 'the puppet on the right'. Not that it's any different in Britain....

^^I used to think that, but look at what the fucking idiot puppet currently in the Whitehouse has done to us. No other puppet could have done as fine a job as George Bush in getting us involved, make that starting, a useless war and making the entire world despise the US.

It really DOES make a difference. And I'm with PB. I've always been more partial to Hillary than to Bill Clinton, even though Bill is certainly no dummy himself and in my opinion was a fine president.

If you are referring to warnings on video games, I believe that there is a difference between warning that content may not be suitable for children and booking burning, and one does not have to lead to the other. Some parents don't even know how to opearte a video game, let alone prescreen it for inappropriate content for their children. And you may call me old fashioned, but I still believe that there are certain things that kids just don't need to see day after day.

I must say I second HWBL's opinion about Oprah being racist against non-black minorities, and I'm starting to think, white people as well. The only minorities Oprah ever has on her show are black people and very occasionally Jewish people.

When was the last time anyone ever saw Latinos on Oprah's show? Latinos happen to be our country's single largest growing minority group. Or Asians? Or South Asians? Or Middle Easterners? And I mean Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans, Americans who are minorities, and happen to not be black.

The trouble with Oprah's rigid stance is that being the opinion-maker she is, she keeps the discussions about race restricted to only black people and white people. That serves NOBODY well.

It certainly shuts out all other minorities from any dialog about their lives, their struggles against bigotry, the common ground they share with everybody else.

It is also very very bad for black people. There needs to be way way more dialog between black people and other minorities. It does no good for the black community to be isolated from other groups fighting for an equal seat for the table. And it would be good for many black people to realize that their community is not alone in their struggles, and they have natural allies out there.

Also Oprah's silly short-sighted tactics keep her Caucasian fans from realizing that there is a world that is far far bigger than black vs white. America is an extremely complex nation today. When Rosie made her Ching-chong remark, many white women who watch the View and Oprah didn't get why that was a rude remark. However had Rosie made fun of the way black people speak Ebonics, there would have been an outcry.

Oprah has directly contributed to these double-standards that come from ignorance and lack of awareness. When white middle-class housewives ( an extremely powerful lobby) have a chance to see other minorities on a regular basis, they would understand that just like black and white people, Asians, Latinos etc. don't like having their speech patterns mocked in a dismissive and insulting way. But they don't get that chance, thanks to Oprah's blinders against anyone who falls between black and white.

Crackho VS Harpo....
I've said it before & I'll say it again. I worry that if either Obama or Hillary wins, we'll be talking about an assassination shortly after the election. Maybe that's Bill's plan ...
