Oh, I DO believe it's more prevalent in the US with its
"celebrity oriented" society. As long as the masses follow
things like their "leader's" hairstyle, or type of sunglasses,
it's quite harmless. It's when they start following them
in "religion" (scientology, kabala) or politics, that it gets
scary.

And what difference does it make if Oprah backs Obama? I mean, people act as if it's completely out of the realm of possibility that she should endorse the senator from her home state of Illinois rather than the senator from N.Y.
The difference is that it IS Oprah who endorses him. She's proven
to be quite racist (just look at how she treats black guests opposed
to how she treats other ethnic minorities and (non celeb) whites)
and obviously power hungry. Her ego has gotten way out of control.

And unfortunately there's many soccer moms out there who blindly
follow Oprah in whatever she endorses.

No offense, but that's the opinion of somebody who doesn't live in America. As much as Americans are celebrity-oriented the vast majority of us don't take our political, or religious cues, from celebrities.

And Europe is just as celebrity-oriented as the U.S., which why all of our celebrity trainwrecks are big news over there, too.

Hello! I may be currently living in Europe, but I AM an American
citizen who still casts her vote, but not on Obama, thank you.

Yeah, though the difference is that most often the news about the celebrity
trainwrecks is reported while scratching their heads in disbelief. I remember
how the whole Anna Nicole thing was reported on here. It wasn't so much
about ANS, but on how the whole thing dominated the media, even the
serious media, while so much important stuff was going on, you know, real
news.

A- Fucking Men! And you know what? I don't care that Oprah endorses Obama. Because from this moment on, I declare that I, Crackho, endorse Hillary Clinton. *waits for applause*.

Seriously, she has the right to endorse anyone she wants to endorse. I have more faith in people, and believe that most won't base their decision on what Oprah says.

Well, as an American citizen you should already KNOW that the vast majority of us don't take our political, or religious cues, from celebrities.

And I could care less if you vote for Obama, so what was the point of telling me that you're not voting for him? Did I tell you to vote for him? No, I didn't, so thank you.

Unfortunately the vast majority you are speaking of
lives in the highly populated areas, the coasts, and
is keeping more in touch with current affairs. Studies
have shown that the more you go "inland", the other
vast majority of people are inclined to either vote the
same for generations (often without even knowing
anymore why) or to "follow popular leaders", such as
celebrities.
Sad, but true.

P.S. Thank you even more!

Exactly. I could care less if Oprah endorses Obama, Hillary, or the man in the moon. Her opinion carries no weight with me. Until the Iowa caucus, Hillary was No. 1 for me, and Obama was No. 2. Now that's changed, and Obama is my top choice, followed by Hillary. I like them both, so whichever becomes president, I'll still be happy.

But I think Oprah was in a tough spot, not that I'm defending her. But she backs Obama, and people think she's doing it because he's black. If she had backed Hillary, people would have said she was doing it because she's a woman. So, either way, Oprah gets shit. If she was smart, she would've just kept her mouth shut and not endorsed anybody. But this is Oprah we're talking about.

True, people that live in more rural areas may tend to vote the same generation to generation. But, then again, that's true in even highly-populated areas.

And, yeah, there are some peope who are uneducated enough to vote for somebody just because their favorite NASCAR driver or basketball player endorsed that person. But that represents a minority of Americans, not the majority.

And thank you again.

I actually think that O's endorsement of Obama hurts him more than people think.

Same here. I've always been a big fan of Bill Clinton, and I like Hillary, too. GO HILLARY!

Oprah deserves to flown to the moon and left there for inflicting Dr. Phil on all of us. I couldn't stand him the first time she trotted him out.

Regarding Roseanne: I saw her here in Vegas last year and she was a riot! I'd listen to her before I'd listen to Oprah, if I were dumb enough to let some celebrity's viewpoint influence me.

I like Obama too. But I have a lot of respect for Hillary. No way I could have accomplished what she did---she didn't just marry some guy and paint her nails and do nothing and act like a vapid twat. The woman is bright, and the fact that she raised a good kid says a lot about her in my book. I dunno.

*shrugs*

I like Obama and was so impressed with him when he spoke at the Dem Convention back in 04. I watched him speak and thought how bright our nations future is with people like him coming up through the ranks. I do not, however, feel this is his time. I would like him to be a little more seasoned before he is my President. I would like to see a Clinton/Obama ticket. That is something I can get behind!

yup, my first instinct was to NOT vote for him because Oprah endorsed him. Now, i'm actually doing a little more research than i usually would. She's still racist.
