I don't like his movies. I like him even less as a human.

i like his movies but yeah, as a human being, he is pond scum.
Don't like his movies, and he gives me the funny uncle creeps when I read about him. So - just say no.

Shameless Woody fantard checking in.
I do think Ronan should just get over it because it is ultimately himself he's hurting by not letting go.
On the other hand, it was a funny tweet. Maybe he inherited a bit of humour from the old man. I kinda doubt it came from Mia.
I like Woody's movies. He is an odd fellow though. The tweet was funny, but yeah why rehash it. If he thinks it's funny and is okay with it then that's great, if he hasn't moved on then that's a shame for him.

I'm pretty sure half the people in here bitching about Ronan needing to "get over it" wouldn't be saying that if their father was banging their stepsister/adopted sister.![]()
Spot on, hustle. I am not bothered by this relationship at all. She never really was his daughter and they have been together for a very long time. But I can totally see why Ronan has issues with it. Let him tweet about it once a year, he's a kid.
That being said, Woody is awfully overrated as a filmmaker.
Hello mother fucker! when you ask a question read also the answer instead of asking another question on an answer who already contain the answer of your next question!

Why exactly should he get over it? Its his family and his life. Why can't you get over the fact that he's not over it and feel some sympathy for the guy whose family unit was tainted in this way?

this times eleventy.
20 years is a long time. long enough that people should have dealt with that shit or gotten some therapy or something. i would feel the same if this was someone i knew in real life who had gone through something traumatic and was still rehashing it 20 years later, especially since he was 4 years old at the time... i find it especially tedious when it's adults who can't let go and keep blaming their parents for everything and haven't gotten over that shit.
i know people who have been through far worse and they aren't rehashing it 2 decades on, much less on fucking twitter.

Indignant much aren't we? Ronan has every right to feel the way he does. It's not in our place to tell him to "get over it," sorry. Families were torn apart over this, so I certainly understand Ronan being a bit peeved about this.
And I'm hardly the moral police on this site, so miss me with that. I gave my opinion just like you did! Have a blessed day!
But you admit you're a Woody Allen fantard, so it could be argued you're letting your biases in the way regarding the situation with Woody and Soon-Yi. But hey, so glad to see your lack of empathy for other people's ordeals shine through.
But then again, selective outrage is a part of life on message boards, so no surprise there.

i don't think it's lack of empathy. like i said, everyone goes through traumatic shit.
to give you an example, my dad died. i still mourn him and feel sad and while it's not something that will ever stop hurting, i'm not going to be a debbie downer and fb-post or tweet some depressing shit about how i miss my dead daddy and how much father's day sucks for me now. if someone did that right after losing their father, sure i'd let it slide because it's still fresh but not when years have passed.

Yeah, I'm sure this kid can just forget about it when his family is a national joke. I'm sure his buds, thinking they're being cute, ask him stupid shit like "how's your father-brother doing" all the time.

The problem is that Woody Allen didn't just tear his family apart, and take off with the person that Ronan Farrow knew (as far as he was concerned) as his sister. He also exposed his family to public humiliation on pretty much a global level. Normally, when one of your parents splits, they take the secretary or the pool guy, and you can grieve the loss privately. In this case, Ronan couldn't leave his house without reporters and paparazzie outside and without hearing about it at school and in the street. And seeing it on TV and in the papers.
However, I don't think making a random tweet on Father's Day about what an enduring asshat Woody Allen is, is indicative of Ronan not getting past this. Clearly, Ronan has moved on - spectacularly. He went to Bard College at 11, was accepted into Yale Law School at 15, but put it off temporarily to go work for the Ambassador for the United Nations. He has worked in refugee camps in the Sudan and helped out in trouble spots in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Quite frankly, at 25, Ronan Farrow has achieved more than his own father has at 77. If he wants to spike the ball occasionally on his solipsistic dad's head, fine by me.
