Originally, we had been talking about how right wing certain superheros were. And then people started pressuring me for a graph, LOL. So, to me, a good way of presenting it was on some kind of meter where the needle would swing between positions representing ideology. I put Stalin at one end of the spectrum and Hitler at the other - not to represent superheroes, but to represent extreme points.

Two things: I don't know dick about the incredible Hulk, what makes him on the left of the chart? And Hitler was extremely anti-capitalist and firmly socialist/fascist, the last thing Hitler wanted was for ALL people to have a chance at prosperity, why'd you post him all the way to the right on the chart?

For sure, but Hitler was both of those things. And not picking on Mo honestly, just a lil confused and wanting to get it

I did it because Hitler is associated with excessive nationalist/nativist pride (pure Aryan's etc.). I think that's associated with right wingers. I included the Hulk on the left because his super powers are a curse, and he is hunted down by the US military.

Mo, please don't let these people dissuade you from making future charts. I love all of the charts that you make.

Talking about this doesn't bother me at all. I hope Novice doesn't think I'm being disagreeable. I'm just blowing off steam in between tasks here at work.

National Socialism wasn't 'socialist.' He called his party National Socialist because it was a popular term at the time. They paid lip service to some socialist ideas, but these were dropped once they had secured power.

Like G.B. Shaw noted Hitler's socialism was false, a way of buying off the inevitable revolution. He wore, in Shaw's opinion "the latest mask of capitalism."

Industrialists did quite well during under Hitler, assisted by the Nazi policy of crushing unions and putting full employment over raising pay. It is true that the economy was socialised briefly in the 30s, but it wasnt out of a belief in socialism. It was to prepare for war. He fully understood that a command economy would be better at building arms than the free market.

Great interview with Howard Stern. He's relaxed and candid. Talks about that interview, his day and dinner with Sarah Jessica, his 50th birthday bash and his use of big words.
