That interviewer shot himself in the foot...bet celebrities won't want to interview with him after this.

Couldn't RDJ just have said "I don't want to talk about that" - why the dramatic exit?

Maybe he just wanted to talk about the movie he has coming out per his obligations, and not have some asshat spend the entire interview talking about a substance abuse problem he had a decade ago. Just guessing here.....

I don't blame him. It's not like it happened recently and is the obvious elephant in the room. He's been very open and honest about everything he's gone through with drugs and alcohol. At some point, asking celebs about the same thing over and over for years gets pretty old and boring.

(And as a super high profile actor, he has the privilege of doing it with little consequences anyway).
And even though he walked out, he did it nicely. Yeah, a tiny passive-aggressive jab, but the jerk deserved it.

I don't think it was that dramatic, really. He was clearly agitated by the questioning, said 2 or 3 times about being there for a movie promotion, even expounded on the liberal question in total honesty, and kept looking at his PR person to get the okay to end it. If you watch closely, he didn't get up until the PR person finally said enough. I'd be pissed off too if some dude just asked me if I was totally "free" of the demons that plagued me a decade ago and had talked about previously over and over .... to me, that's just asking if he's still using and expecting an answer.

Meh doubt it the guy is an award winning "serious" journo, he reports on serious stuff like death wars racism and stuff.
    i doubt anyone will care.
It didn't impact on him when he had a go at Tarentino for releasing a violent film just after the Sandy Hook incident.

given the journo he probably was trying to draw a parable but considering that Downey was sent down for numerous fealonies, breaking April, DUIs, driving around Lohan'd with a loaded 0.3 magnum....

i don't get the Downey-love. He's meh to me, kudos that he (allegedly!!!) beat his addiction but it was that or die. The guy would have given his whole stash of coke to get this publicity in the 1990s.

Why is a "serious journo" interviewing an actor during a press junket anyway? Not everyone has to like RDJ but I think he's great and I'm glad he beat his addictions so I could see the movies he does.

I'm guessing for the same reason an actor as talented as RDJ does movies like Gothika, Iron Man and the Avengers- a large paycheck

Serious journalism probably pays as well as good movies.

    that's an interesting comparison.

i see RDJ as much more talented than CS. lohan probably had talent but her career was too short so it is hard to say. CS is in a different class (to me) since he is verbally abusive towards others. i don't see RDJ that way at all.

Hey I like Iron Man and the Avengers. That was the movies I'm talking about. I'm not that high brow. I hope he continues to do them until he's playing someone's grandfather in them.

If this journalist did it for a big paycheck good for him but I'm sure he also realizes he was not promised some exclusive or soul bearing interview.

Yes, he should have stuck to the movie. Junkets are PR time, not probing questions time.

I think people deserve redemption if they work for it. RDJ seems to have earned it. He bottomed out, get sober, rebuilt his career and personal life and was honest about it from the get-go. Sure, he could fall again, lots of addicts do, but he's done the work that Lilo and Sheen have not.

Why did the journalist have to go along with the press junket theme? THAT is more tedious than keeping it real.

Maybe this journalist can sit down with Scarlett Johansen and ask her if escaping from the clutches of the Winter Soldier was like escaping from the clutches of super-controlling Ryan Reynolds.
