I still hate the taste of most alcoholic drinks today, at the age of 21 (the legal age around here is 18, not the ridiculous, Reaganite age of 21). I really don't drink all that much. I don't really see what all the fuss about alcohol is about most of the time.

If the age was 18, kids from 14 to 17 would have it at all times because the seniors would be able to buy it for them. Trust me, that would be a bad thing.

I just don't understand why they do it - it tastes vile and makes them sick. What's the point? Surely there are better ways to try and look cool or complicated or whatever it is they are trying to achieve?

Hmm, I remember being rebellious. I remember drinking. I didn't ever drink to rebel, I drank to....GET DRUNK! (and cope with horrendous depression/bipolar). I now do not drink at all. Life is better for me that way. I honestly could drink the boys under the table, but that's not much of an accomplishment is it?

Trust me, it's not.
Australia, the UK, and pretty much everywhere in the world except the USA manages to function perfectly well with a drinking age of 18 (or lower, in some places). When my friends and I were underage, most of us got our booze off of our parents, anyway.
Being mature and adult enough in the eyes of the law to to vote, fight in wars, get married, sign contracts, inherit estate, drive, smoke, live out of home and make medical decisions at 18... but not to drink? That makes no freaking sense.

Rhianna probably actually drank more than Winehouse....cause Amy probably skimmed over the booze and went straight to the hard shit.

I'm guessing the colour 'maroon' was the least of her problems.

What, and you think the problem is solved by having people 21 and over buying it for them? One of the big reasons that America has such a big problem with underage drinking is because there are an awful lot of people between the ages of 18 and 21 who are drinking, who could do so legally in many other countries. Why are American 18 year olds allowed to vote, drive, marry, smoke etc, but they aren't allowed to consume alcohol? How ridiculous!
