I knew a woman at my old accounting firm who had a mastectomy and she had to carry a bag around. It was attached to where her breasts were to catch excess fluid...at least I think that is what it was. Once the breast is removed and stitched, it's basically a large wound, so I guess this could happen.

Shit, that's awful. I'll have a cocktail and some canned icing spiced with imitation vanilla extract in her honor, to send some luck her way.

^I'll add some corn nuts, and some blue dye too as a nod to her Hanukkah cake.

yeah it probably held her drains. i only had a partial mastectomy and had to have the bag at the end of the drains emptied a couple times a day for 10 days. major pain. you can't wear
clothes without undoing everything in order to make the drains fit without getting clogged.

I could still shower. A drain is a tube that come out of the surgical area, and was well taped in place. The incision area was covered and they gave me sticky sheets, like plastic, to place over the incision area. At the bottom of the tube is a collection bulb. Each day I, or the visiting nurse, would record the output levels so they knew how much was draining out of me. I had it from the gastric bypass too, and that one was more annoying. That stayed in for 10 days. The removal was very painful, as the body begins to heal around the tube and the they ripped it out. The pain was worse than labor for me, but lasted all of 5 seconds.

It was nothing, Bitter. Went through Temple. Surgery lasted 4 hours, from 4pm to 8pm on a Monday. I was home by noon on Wednesday. It was lap and very easy.
