His voice will be missed. I feels like all the voices of logic and reason are leaving us here. RIP.

Is it weird that this seems like a "sudden" death, so to speak? It seems like he had lived so long with the disease that I didn't even consider the possibility of him dying anytime soon...

When I got to the gym today, one of my workout partners was mentioning that he lost his mom to ALS 20 years ago, when he was still in high school. She went pretty quickly after diagnosis. In the case of Hawking, it's almost like he was allowed to live in order to get something done that would benefit millions of people.

Aw man, this one is killing me. I was shocked when Zack told me the news last night, especially since I was cuddling with Mr. Big, who I had to put down this morning. When I got home I had to search the house to find him hiding behind my dresser. He was burrowing and trying to die alone, so I picked him up and cuddled with him all night.

    RIP, Mr. Hawking.
I don't know how completely I understood his books either, but he always sent my imagination racing with them. He was truly a special man. I've always felt like he suffered through life to enlighten us all, so yes, he is a hero.

I had heard Stephen was pleased with his performance and I just assumed that meant he liked the film too but he could have just liked Eddie’s performance. In fact he says that in this tribute video Eddie posted today. Stephen attended the Oscars and Eddie dedicated his acceptance speech to him. Very touching.

My sister died of ALS almost 6 years ago, and it was within about 5 years of being diagnosed.
