This is horrible, but I thought she'd already died.

She was very talented and will be missed. RIP

aww.. that's sad. she seemed like a really funny lady.

    from her vanity fair interview

That's what I was wondering too. Almost 10 years later, you'd think with a brain tumor/liver tumor, she'd have passed long before this. Anyway, sad she is gone, she was such a funny lady.

This makes me so sad. Penny Marshall was a wonderful comedic actress and director.

Awww, she was always great! I was sad she didn't keep acting, but she directed some great movies, so it all evened out.

That is what I was thinking too. But I heard her cancer was in remission so not sure. I was not aware she was diabetic but my dad became diabetic in his 70’s.

I had forgotten she directed "Big". I thought that was a note-perfect movie. Beautifully shot. Tour de force performance by Hanks. Completely made me see Robert Loggia and Elizabeth Perkins in a different light in terms of the characters they could portray. I still get all misty-eyed when I watch the scene where Elizabeth Perkins is watching Hanks walk down the street, morphing into his kid self.

    RIP!

I just found out today she directed her first movie - Jumping Jack Flash- after the original director backed out last minute and Whoopi Goldberg recommenced Penny. Women helping Women is so cool to hear. The fact she could masterfully direct comedies and dramas is a huge feat. She was a true badass.

When ever I happen upon one of the fortune telling machines, I buy one and have kept all the cards because of that movie.

I had no idea. I love Jumping Jack Flash.
