Exactly!!! There's no way that woman just ran the whole 26 miles in those stupid bell bottom long pants flapping around her feet.

Count me as another who doesn't quite get it...I'm not all that blown away if she ran it, or disappointed if she didn't. But if it's a made up story for publicity, it's pretty lame.
I dunno...Tom seems to love planting stories about his "hero" antics so maybe this is his way of making Katie look like superwoman? If so, again..how pathetic.

exactly. Don't believe she ran the whole thing for a second, but I'm sure she ran the last couple of miles. She should just fake run the Boston Marathon too. But this time she should try a sports bra to make it a little bit convincing!
If she wanted some good publicity and didn't want to do the whole thing she could have just done the AIDS walk or something. I did it, and it was only a few miles, and you get to walk! lol

Just another side to that: my husband ran his first marathon with less than five months training. He had never run further than a mile or two before he started training. And he was walking just fine within about two hours afterwards. In fact, we party pretty much all night after he runs the Vegas marathon every year.
But hey, I don't run with him the whole way and...come to think of it, I've never seen him at the starting line, so who knows, he probably doesn't even run.
What a bunch of fucking Sherlock Holmeses.
But...I'm done. Everyone can carry on with completely ignoring any semblance of reality in lieu of absolute fantasy. I will intrude with my stupid logic and common sense no longer, as I see it has absolutely no place here.

Well congrats to him (and I mean that in all seriousness, running a marathon is a big accomplishment). Most people do train for longer though.

I don't mean to upset you, but I just don't happen to agree, nwgirl.
I don't think photographs of undetermined points in time are definitive proof that she ran the whole marathon. A few miles I can believe, but I don't believe she ran all 26 miles.

Ha, that was my thought too when I saw that last pic. I'd probably fall flat on my face in those pants just walking around in normal life..much less running. Who would wear that kind of outfit for a marathon?

I don't think she ran either. From what I remember, she registered under a false name. No one knew she was in the race until towards the end of the race.
No bra and long, flapping pants to run 26 miles? I don't buy it. I'm not absolutely positive that she didn't run the whole thing, but it would not surprise me at all if she dropped in at the last couple miles or so. Their whole marriage screams "FAKE". Why would this be any different?

Honestly, that doesn't upset me at all. Apparently I'm the only one in this vacuum of a thread whose beliefs have any kind of support for them, outside of the voices in my own head. And IMO, that's a pretty good place to be sitting.
So...until someone provides one piece of proof that she didn't run, I'm honestly feeling pretty good about my stance.

I don't have any proof that Tom is a crazy gay midget, outside of the voices in my own head, but I'm pretty sure that it's true. That's enough for me.

no, she ran under her maiden name. her splits were recorded on the marathon website and they weren't anything to brag about. if she were going to lie about doing the marathon, it's not clear why she would make up such pathetic splits. i don't see any evidence that she didn't do the marathon, i agree with the other poster who suggests that she slow jogged/walked it and to do a marathon in that way would not require a year of training. she is not a serious runner and doesn't claim to be.

FEET OF ENDURANCE
SNEAKY KATIE RUNS MARATHON
By REBECCA ROSENBERG, Post Wire Services
STAR POWER: Katie Holmes is greeted by hubby Tom Cruise and daughter Suri after the marathon in Central Park,...
November 5, 2007 -- With Top Gun hubby Tom Cruise and baby daughter Suri cheering her on, actress Katie Holmes - running under a fake name - huffed and puffed her way through the New York City Marathon yesterday.
Fleet, she ain't - finishing in 5 hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds.
But racer F127 turned on the star power to dazzle the lucky few who figured out the identity of the long-legged dazzler wearing an FDNY cap, purple tank top and black running pants.
"It was great," she said, catching her breath, as she ran for her No. 1 fans.
"She's been training straight for three months," Cruise said proudly as a crowd of weary marathoners gathered enough strength to pose for pictures with TomKat.
Martin Lel, 29, of Kenya won the men's title, bursting ahead in the final mile to edge Abderrahim Goumri of Morocco in 2:09:04.
Briton Paula Radcliffe, 33, took the women's title in 2:23:09, beating Gete Wami in a heel-to-heel race. Radcliffe gave birth in January, and this was her first marathon in two years.
Most of the 40,000 runners who participated in the run through the five boroughs at first didn't recognize Holmes, 28, who had registered under the pseudonym "Katie Smith" to run her first marathon.
But halfway through the run, Holmes' cover was blown when she stopped to kiss a disguised Cruise, 45, who was standing along the race route. After the news spread, race officials changed the entrant's name from Smith to Holmes.
"We're very excited and proud of her," said Holmes' jubilant mom, Kathy.
Among the 40,000 long-haul runners, Tour de France cycling great Lance Armstrong finished with an impressive time of 2:47.
