I remember reading 10 years ago, that he was living at the Stanholpe Hotel the few weeks before he died. I don't see what is shocking now in this article.

yep and whats more I don't give a rats ass.
he was the only Kennedy that I liked or even lusted after. To me he was the most attractive man that ever lived. I was so ticked at him for flying when he knew he shouldn't have. He was beautiful.

I don't think anyone has missed the point - notice the date they "reported" the cover-up. There doesn't seem to be anything new in this article - even the claims of cover-up are more than 8 years old.

In our Feb. 20, 2001 issue, we exclusively reported that a "cover-up" of the crash was "dictated by Washington" and videotapes showing the plane at the bottom of the Atlantic, with John, Carolyn and her sister Lauren Bessette's bodies, were destroyed.

^^ Proof?
Since the rest of yous are so well in the news, instead of passive-aggressively moaning that this was old news (it was new to me... not all of us live in the US where this was reported)... why not post some stories yourselves instead of leaving it to the usual few & the crap from the Mailonline?

I definitely believe there was a cover-up and I think it was political. Rumor had that JFK Jr. was making noises about running for office. He would have blown away any opponent who went up against him. What office was he contemplating? Senator from New York. (to start with)

I can't help but remember him that way.
I love that he never shaved his body like so many vain assholes do today. He was a real man, baby.

Of all the women John could have married, I never understood why he chose Carolyn. She seemed like a bitch to me - so cold and frigid. From all accounts she hated everything about his lifestyle which proved to me she only stuck with him for the notoriety and the $$$$.

^^ yep I thought the same thing, even Madonna was better than her. When he gave interviews he came across as being a really nice person. A really nice hot person.

I agree about Carolyn. She struck me as fake, stupid, and vapid. Totally materialistic. I guess John John wasn't the first nor the last man to be fooled by a pretty face. (which was much prettier before she started bleaching out her hair and wearing it like a repressed school marm)

As for the pilot error information, that was all over the news in the US during that time (and since I live in MA, the coverage here was even greater). There were all kinds of crazy stories around then - even a bunch of people who were (and probably still are) convinced that JFK Jr. was murdered.
The NTSB listed the probable cause of the crash as "The pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane during a descent over water at night, which was a result of spatial disorientation. Factors in the accident were haze, and the dark night." The NTSB report does not state that the plane was in a graveyard spiral (it actually states it was in a right turn when it dropped off radar). The brief of the NTSB's findings is available at NYC99MA178, and there's a link at the bottom to read the complete report.
Personally, I had a huge crush on JFK Jr., and I remember being even more impressed when I saw him interviewed because in addition to be incredibly handsome, he seemed polite, intelligent and, more importantly, normal despite growing up a Kennedy. So, maybe my passive-agressive moaning is because I wish that the NI would just let him rest in peace.

I haven't started a lot of new threads because 99% of the time the things I've found are already posted, and the few new threads I actually started didn't interest anyone. So, I'm sorry that I'm not fast enough with the interesting news.
Maybe the problem here is that today we are so used to news being spread instantly around the world through the internet that we sometimes forget that even as little as 5-10 years ago it didn't happen at such a fast pace. However, even recognizing that isn't going to change the fact that what's new to one person could be really old news to others.

albatross - the first bit could have been for you - it was just a question.
However, the 2nd bit definitely wasn't for you!
Thanks for the extra info - as I say I don't recall ever hearing these conclusions, but then I'm in the UK, so the family doesn't hold the thrawl here as it seems to in the US.
