I only like 'Straight Up'. The intro tap dance is hot.
MTV is actually starting to play music videos again. Not just in the morning, lol.
Janet is only 41, not 45. And there are plenty of much older artists who go on, but no one has high expectations or criticize them for not selling. And excuse me, but #2 debuts on the Billboard and 380K/300K ain't bad at all.The world 'flop' is so overused when it doesn't apply. Look how Rihanna - she has successful singles yet her albums don't sell shit. Wonder why no one makes a big deal about it. But I guess when All For You sold 600K its first week, and your next album sells 380K, it would be a 'flop' only in comparison.
hold the bus............... when did MTV start playing music videos?

Look, imo, Janet Jackson's last couple of albums have done much less than what was anticipated. Millions of dollars go toward marketing her album, and it doesn't really help. Maybe she sells hundreds of thousands of copies, but I'm pretty sure her record company expected more. And my previous post stated that I think perhaps her albums are failing because she's being marketed to teens and young adults, when that industry is already saturated with Rihanna, Beyonce, etc. Janet's had her turn with the teens. I'm not saying her music is bad, but she should probably lean more towards the adult community, and only SOME of it has to do with her age.
I didn't say anything negative about Janet Jackson or even Michael Jackson and his plastic nose, I promise.![]()
I don't think Janet is being marketed to anyone, she just...Janet. If so, who is Madonna being marketed to?
Well, in the 90's, she sort of went techno and was definitely marketed to people involved in that genre. I haven't heard Madonna's cd yet, so I couldn't tell you. Truth be told,I dislike Madonna's singing voice and haven't enjoyed her music since the 80's, so I don't really keep up. I do, however, like Janet Jackson.
