They say Grace didn't drive after dusk at all. The accident happened after nightfall. Maybe there is a cover up to protect Stéphanie, I wouldn't blame them. But if that was the case, they would probably never speak about it to anyone.

They never spoke about it at the time. Stephanie was in hiding or in recovery or understandably in mourning but it was never made clear.
She had to recover from cervical fracture, but I think she has been depressed ever since.
Of course, losing your mother will do that to you, plus, being a royal and in the public eye and all, I'd be depressed, too.

I remember when Grace died. There were always rumors about it, from the minute it happened: Stephanie was driving, or Grace was driving and they were fighting in the car which distracted Grace, or Grace had been drinking.
The turn where she crashed is pretty hairy if you aren't careful.
All of God's children are not beautiful. Most of God's children are, in fact, barely presentable.
Which is why she never drove that route in the dark. Except for that one time.
According to the autopsy report she would have had a stroke one way or the other, she had very unhealthy eating habits.

Grace suffered from depression as well. Talk about the Curse of the Grimaldis.
When she died it was all over the news here in Philly where she was considered the Main Line Princess. I remember reports within 24 hours questioning who was really driving and if there was a cover up at play.
