when will people realise that NO celebrity is perfect and lives a perfectly moral and child-friendly life, and that NO celebrity should be emulated and presented to kids as a role model. teach your kids to enjoy shows and music but NOT to look up to celebs as heroes or role models. it's not that hard.

I agree. They should be pointing their children not toward the celebrity-as-rolemodel/idol, but instead should be pointing their children toward THE GLOWING LIGHT OF GHEE-ZUS!!!... AWR LAWRD AND SAVIHUH!

Wow..you make him sound like some hot long haired hunky hippie bashing authority and using drugs..you make him sound so..attractive. Maybe I should rethink this 'Jesus' thing?
*I think I might post a "Post your hot pics of Jesus' threads..you know, how many times have you seen some painting or such of Jesus at a church or somewhere, and thought, 'Wow..Jesus looks..hot in that!" I saw a painting of Jesus one time when I was at a church and Jesus was so hot in it I wanted to frickin' steal it!

YOu guys are cracking me up. I don't give a flying crap how she posed. My kids will never, under my watch, look to celebs for a role model. They can admire a person's work but hopefully will not model themselves after someone.

In Sundays Parade Magazine Billy Ray was asked if he thought Miley was growing up to fast, he said no she has a good head on her shoulders and she makes good decisions.
I don't think the Vanity Fair photo shoot was a good decision, she didn't need the exposure and really when you hang yourself out there saying you want to be a good role model for young girls this isn't the route.
She's 15, she's in a sheet half naked on the front of a mag. I think it's in poor taste. I'm not sure if the porn statements are aimed at me I said "whats with Vanity Fair and their soft porn" and I stand by that, how come their covers have so much skin lately?
Personally I don't know what God and Jesus have to do with Miley Cyrus.

ITA -- My concern (and it's not like I'm wringing my hands or losing sleep over this) is for Miley herself. You can just see the path she's on, and apparently, since her parents were on set, they are far more concerned with their money machine than they are with raising a daughter with a good head on her shoulders. I don't care how many photos we see of the family going to church -- that doesn't make you a "good" kid. They need to say no and parent her instead of trying to be her best friend.
And, why does "artistic" always equal "naked"?

Gotta agree with sputnik and Sojiita. Tacky and inappropriate? Sure. Pedophilia and child porn? NO.
The picture is a lot tamer than I expected clicking on the thread.

Miley Cyrus issued a statement exclusively to PEOPLE on Sunday, apologizing for a series of playfully provocative photos that circulated on the Internet last week, as well as those from a racy, as-yet unreleased Vanity Fair photo shoot in which she appears to be nude.
The singer, 15, tells PEOPLE: "My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."
A source close to the singer tells PEOPLE that Cyrus is clothed but shown by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz in such a way that that the teen appears to be topless.
In the photos that circulated on the Internet, Cyrus, her midriff exposed, is shown draped over the lap of her then-boyfriend, her producer's son. In another image, a hint of a green bra is evident. (Those photos alone prompted criticism from conservative TV commentator Bill O'Reilly, as well as words of support from the Jonas Brothers and a fellow Disney star.)
Cyrus goes on to say: "The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone.
"Most of all," she says, "I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life's journey."

The real shock to me is that anyone thought this picture was attractive enough to publish. She looks awful, not naked.

I agree with Soj and Sputnik as well although I think 15 is a little young for this.
I guess I wouldn't want my kid looking to a celeb as a role model and would try to introduce them to more inspiring people.

The image is not pornographic; it's not in any way sexual. I don't know how it got past the editors because her coloring is that of a corpse in this photo, yuck.
Too big a deal is being made of this.
