I also strongly remember what it was like to be 15 and experimenting with what it means to be sexy. Perhaps the answer lies not with banning her from being sexy but educating her about the dangers of risque photos and behavior. She is a young adult and is definitely being exposed to much more than most people twice her age. Shaming the behavior will not make it change.

The bottom line is it's inappropriate to be taking photos like this of yourself at 14, 15 and posting them on the internet for all to see. Shaming sexual feelings and experimentation is not really the issue for me. Everything has a time and place.

My daughter is 15, and while I would cause much problems for her if she posted pictures like this on her Myspace, I have, seen non-famous 15-17 year olds with far worse on their pages.

It's not acceptable, but it is typical for that age range.

At the risk of sounding waaay hazy, back when we were 15 the internet didn't exist but I can totally see wanting to experiment in this way and not because my parents would think it's a good idea--quite the opposite--just pure naivety at the sick pedos who are waiting to take advantage. You want to be sexy at that age (and, gee, some would say it's Hannah Montana's "job" to be pre-sexy--eeew). For this reason, I don't like calling Miley a skank. In other words, it's OK to be sexy as long as you're just a Disney girl (again, ewww) but crossover into Boobland and suddenly you become a slut--it's such an unfair and degrading double-standard. When did it become acceptable for 14 and 15 year olds to act like sluts? I still think they are children and parents today need to get a fucking clue and realize kids need to be kids. Children are acting out sexually way too young- skank makeup, coochie showing skirts and underwear, making porn star faces all over the internet, HELLO, this screams inappropriate. It's sad when young girls think dressing and acting like porn stars is sexy. Sexual urges and all that is normal, but girls now a days are getting the wrong idea about what it means to be a sexy, empowered woman. I'll be damned if my daughter will be acting like Jenna Jameson at 14!

Miley is a Lindsay Lohan in the making, I'm sure there is a lot more going on behind the scenes with her! I predict she will be on coke by 18 and washed up by 19. Show business will chew her up and spit her out, just like every other child actor.

Teen girls these days make me pretty worried for today's young girls. When is cycle of slutty looking teen girls going to end? It's sad. Things weren't always this way.....

I agree 110%. Its sick and its sad. I dont know when or how this became okay but its terrible. I'm only 7 years out of high school and things are so dramatically different in this regard. I dont understand it at all.
