It's really sad that she died, and I'm sorry for him, but you've got to be really careful these days checking your meds for interactions because doctors sure as hell don't, especially if you're getting scripts from more than one. Don't wanna end up like Heath Ledger.

Though she was a dedicated crime writer and doting mom, actor Patton Oswalt’s wife led a secret life of drug use before her shocking overdose death.

Michelle McNamara was surrounded by uppers, downers, painkillers, cocaine — and even a substance similar to ecstasy — in the private drug den of the family’s lavish Los Angeles home on April 21, 2016, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

According to the autopsy papers exclusively obtained by Radar, the 46-year-old had prescription bottles of Bupropion, an antidepressant, Cefdinir, an antibiotic, and Naproxen, an anti-inflammatory drug. All were prescribed to McNamara.

A prescription bottle missing a label was filled with Xanax. While speaking the cops, Oswalt, 48, claimed the medication belonged to him.

But in more sinister findings, officials called to the death scene found TFMPP, or Legal X, a recreational drug often sold as an alternative to MDMA, or ecstasy. The pill was embossed with a lightning bolt, and was hidden inside a small plastic bag tucked away inside a larger bag.

In additional, they discovered cocaine and levamisole, a dewormer for livestock often mixed with the hard drug, inside a small brown vial, also covered in a plastic bag.

Officials also found painkillers oxycodone and hydrocodone, and Dextroamphetamine, a dangerous stimulant that can lead to psychosis and heart failure.

The painkillers and stimulants were NOT prescribed to the mother of one.

Lab reports indicated that her blood tested presumed positive for benzodiazepines, fentanyl, and various kinds of opiates.

As Radar previously reported, McNamara died from multiple drug toxicity, specifically fentanyl, alprazolam and amphetamine toxicity.

She left behind her comedian husband of 11 years, and a 7-year-old daughter.

    and Naproxen, an anti-inflammatory drug.
Um, that's Aleve. You can buy it at any pharmacy, grocery store, or gas station in America. Next thing you're going to tell me is she had CENTRUM in her medicine cabinet.

edit: that's not directed at you, SG. There's plenty to that story without making it sound like that's some kind of super dangerous substance.

Yeah, it's Radar Online, who knows if any of the story is true.

I can't bring myself to get worked up about what was in her cupboards and blood draw. She seemed like a perfectly functional, nice and creative lady with a nice little family and wonderful life. The rest is really none of my business and makes her passing none the less tragic to her little girl(s) and husband.

    Fuck off, Radar.

Come on. They found fentanyl and other opiates in her blood. They found cocaine, amphetamine, legal X and oxycodone in the house. She was a drug addict. A high functioning one, but a druggie nonetheless. Either she was very good at leading a double life, or Patton knew what was she was on.

You realize that there are legitimate diagnoses where opiate meds (even fentanyl) would be prescribed?

This proves nothing. I'll give an example.

There was a point in our (me and MrD) lives where if we all went toes up at the same time and someone (in a professional capacity) came to our house to clean it out or investigate, you would have found my "amphetamines" (diet pills), MrD's weed stash, a couple of real, definitely non-fake ecstasy tabs from a friend with whom we had a party with the year before with a bunch of people at our house when he was in town. A bottle of hydrocodone from where I'd had more than one root canal done after DarkJr. (And learned ever since the agony of having one get infected, NEVER to turn down a pain med script...even when I didn't need them... I would always get it filled and hold on to that shit forever). Then there was my xanax script from PPD. (Again, held onto that forever). Being that MrD was a bartender when we worked at the casinos, we usually had a large amount of liquor and wine in the cabinet. The good stuff.

Neither of us was a junkie. But we could have popped positive on a blood test if taken at the right time. MrD was only a weekend beer drinker, and occasional liquor imbiber at that time. He did take a few hits off a joint in the garage on a fairly regular basis at one point in our lives. But frankly, it calmed his ass down and I wish he had stuck to weed. If that shit had been legal we might never have ended up divorced.

I might go months without ever having a drop of booze if life was busy and full of responsibility. We were partiers when DarkJr went to the grandparents' (And the moon was full, and friends were also kid-free, and we didn't have to work the next day, etc. You get the point). All while working hard, keeping up a home and family life, putting a kid through private school, and me back to school eventually.

You be the judge. Were we junkies?

This woman's privacy is being violated. She was obviously loved by people. And clearly able to function in life.

Maybe she was a mostly functioning drug addict/pill popper, maybe she had a legit reason for all the scripts and was an occasional partier who just got unlucky that an undiagnosed heart condition combined with the meds she took did her in. neither invalidates her worth as a person and I do think how this is being reported is tacky as hell not to mention how painful it must be for her family.
