Hold on. One minute you say it was affirmative action that got her into college - and the next you say she has no reason to be bitter?! I'd be pretty bloody bitter if people held the attitude that I didn't get into college on my own merits! Fair my ass.
And she hadly has a victim mentality. A victim mentality is when you just whinge and wallow, blaming everyone and everything else for your situation, instead of actually working hard to do something about it and improve your circumstances. Which Michelle Obama has clearly done... she has refused to be a victim.

Here to inject a little brevity:
Lest you forget, Barack is half white himself, and was raised by his white grandparents. C'mon now. This is nonsense, about them hating white people.
Anyone who honestly believes that about the Obamas are racist has not invested a lick of time watching them speak, or being interviewed, or reading up on their policies. I'd bet by life on it. You've been informed about the Obamas through Fox News, Hilary Clinton, her supporters and related blogs, sensationalized clips on new shows, and probably a bit of Rush Limbaugh and Larry Sinclair thrown in for effect.
If you're going to throw those kinds of insults and opinions out there, please at least have the grace and insight to throughly examine the other side, straight at the source.

From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate whitemen and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into myfather's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all theattributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

From Audacity of Hope:'I will stand with the Muslims should the politicalwinds shift in an ugly direction.'

Proving my point. You haven't actually read the book; you're taking other BIASED people's perspectives on it as fact. FACT is: in those paragraphs, Barack was talking about a darker period in his life, when he was grappling with his racial identity as a teen. It was during this time that he became someone he wasn't proud of, used drugs, etc. He told this story to explain who he WAS, and how it led to him becoming the man he is today, which is nothing like that angry teen.
I find it disgusting that you are using his honest words about his struggles (past tense) to paint him as a closet racist. You just revealed your ignorance, I"m sorry. That came from a silly chain letter that has been debunked long ago: snopes.com: Barack Obama in His Own Words

Hey, that's not fair to blame this on Hillary Clinton or her supporters. I'm a HC supporter and do not at all believe that Obama or Michelle are the slightest bit racist. And I don't recall HC ever implying the same.
That's just as baseless as those here who claim they are racist.

Look, I've encountered sexism in my life. Most women have. And when we women get together, sometimes we bash men. It doesn't mean I hate men or judge them all by how some men have behaved, but sometimes it feels good to share my grievances with others who have had similar experiences.
I don't like what his pastor said either, but I certainly don't judge Obama for it.

Frankly, the only racism that I can see is some people's refusal to accept that a person of mixed race can embrace their black heritage without also shunning and despising their white heritage.

She didn't say that. A few people said it that weren't affiliated to her or Barack, nor his campaign. If she'd said it, it would have been everywhere!! If you can find this statement saying she said those things..I will believe it!

You always think that any black person who went to a non black college got there on affirmative action. You know there are a lot of smart black people who work their behinds off to get where they are. No one handed them anything. Her dad worked hard to send not only her, but her brother to Princeton, she worked hard for everything that she has accomplished. She, nor her husband grew up RICH, and if it weren't for his two books, they wouldn't be 'wealthy'... The freaking nerve..

So by that logic you're saying that anyone who is part of the Catholic church, which openly says gays are sinners and preaches hatred towards them, is hateful toward gays themselves?? Silly.
Obviously some people (not me) continue to go to churches and benefit from some aspects of the experience and simultaneously have to tolerate the occasional hateful thing that' is said there. Everything a preacher says doesn't reflect specifically on the people sitting there!!

I actually heard about it on the CBS news quite a few months ago. If she didn't actually say it then I apologize, my bad. There is a jab at Hillary Clinton in the Us Weekly story though, and that can't be denied.
