I hear they will issue out 1 free ticket to each randomly selected person thru the Staples website. They are only giving out 17,500 tickets. How will people claim their winning ticket? Will they have to wade through the others that didn't get a ticket at the Staples Center to claim theirs?

What in the hell is LA and the police/state police going to do with the 10's of thousands of people that we know will show up, even though they have no ticket inside the Memorial Service? There will be damn riots in the streets from the mad and crazed fans. This will be a damn blood bath. Probably worse than the riots back in the 90's. I am SO glad I don't live out near this madness. This will surpass OJ's ordeal as live reality tv,...that is for sure! I do hope the freak show is televised so I can watch from a safe distance.

Westboro Baptist Church to protest Michael Jackson's Funeral



The Westboro Baptist Church clearly knows no boundaries.
Members of Fred Phelps's fundamentalist church are planning to picket the funeral of late pop icon Michael Jackson, according to the group's website. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The controversial group is well known for picketing funerals of those who have died of HIV starting in the early 1990s, eventually moving on to services for public figures, and military personnel.
Staples Center was the space that Jackson was using to rehearse for his upcoming 50-show concert, which was to start on July 13 in London, according to MTV.

Tickets to attend a memorial for Michael Jackson, and the city of Los Angeles is footing the bill for all the police, emergency, fire, overtime, etc., calling it an "extraordinary event?" And Jan Perry, LA Council member is asking for "donations" to offset the costs? Huh? TAXPAYERS footing the bill for a celebrity memorial service? The Jackson family is worth how much!!? What the hell is this, the "Twilight Zone"??? I mean, if this isn't a complete "WTF!!?" moment, I don't know what is; frankly, I'm shell-shocked, but nothing, and I do mean nothing surprises me anymore.LA is a city in complete fiscal chaos. The schools are going broke. Police and fire personnel are being cut, the general fund has been depleted to take care of basic services to the citizens, and yet the MJ memorial involving security, emergency personnel is being subsidized by city coffers? This is fiscal perversity. This is civic malpractice. This is insane!A state and city in financial collapse. Blocking off a major downtown area on a Tuesday?The hubris involved here is extraordinarily disgusting. The Jacksons and/or the promoter should pick up every single cent of this cost.
