Personal theory is that he was always used to doing whatever in the hell he wanted to without consequence - and he'd already evaded criminal consequences once - so why not dance with the devil again?

I don't know, but I know if I was accused once of touching a little boy...I would have never been around them again in life. And I would have did selective genetics to make sure I had all girls!! But, that's just me.

Because that's what a pedo does. Prison doesn't stop them, treatment programmes don't stop them, having their name in the press doesn't stop them. The only only things that prevent them from molesting children are not being able to get near kids and death.

Some parents would risk, or pimp, their kids for various reasons.
I have a serious hatred for child molesters and MJ set off entirely too many red flags for mental issues.
He talked like Teresa Ganzel on helium, when his real voice was allegedly deep like any other man's. It had a soothing, cartoonish quality, maybe to put people at ease? He seemed to have no stable friendships or romantic relationships with adults, but with children or chimps.
I agree, Neverland seemed to be his windowless haven. Some of his prior kiddie friends seemed to share teenaged and young adulthood substance abuse problems. Post traumatic coping mechanisms?
Payoffs. The man was supposedly filthy rich, yet he chose to pay off those making allegations? He was a beleoved celebrity, at the time, putting the jury of his "peers" and public opinion on his side. Most people, innocent people, would have taken those millions, shredded the false complaints during the case, then sued the liars into the poorhouse.
It doesn't add up.

If meth kills and makes the user look like a corpse, why do more people keep jumping on the high wagon and the current riders keep making the trip? THEY CAN'T STOP!
Pedos don't suddenly decide to seek out 20 year old date mates, just like those of us who aren't psycho predators don't wake up one day and decide Chuck E. Cheese is a better way to meet friends and romantic partners.

It's worth nothing that many of his celeb friends-- Brooke Shields, Tatum O'Neal, Emmanuel Lewis, Elizabeth Taylor--were child stars themselves, suggesting that MJ only knew how to emotionally relate to others on a juvenile level. But the man clearly knew how to cater to the public and made millions with talent and shrewd business decisions. He was like this weird hybrid of P.T. Barnum and Peter Pan. It doesn't make much sense to me. *Shrugs*

speaking of Elizabeth Taylor,...has she made any public statements at all? We don't have cable tv at home,...so I am mainly getting all my MJ info here at GR. I wondered if hearing about Michael might kill her off.

EURweb.com - LIZ TAYLOR 'MY HEART AND MIND ARE BROKEN': Michael Jackson's dear friend releases statement on his passing.
* Elizabeth Taylor says she is still in shock over the death of her close friend Michael Jackson.
"My heart … my mind are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul and I can't imagine life without him," Taylor, 77, said in a statement Friday. "We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together."
Taylor says she was looking forward to attending Jackson's concert run at London's O2 arena in July. "I was packing up my clothes to go to London for his opening when I heard the news. I still can't believe it," she says. "I don't want to believe it. It can't be so."
The legendary actress, who supported Jackson through the good times as well as the difficult ones – including when he faced allegations of child molestation – says her friend "will live in my heart forever, but it's not enough. My life feels so empty."
"I don't think anyone knew how much we loved each other. The purest, most giving love I've ever known. Oh God! I'm going to miss him. I can't yet imagine life with out him.
"I guess with God’s help ... I'll learn. I keep looking at the photo he gave me of himself, which says, 'To my true love
Elizabeth, I love you forever.' And, I will love HIM forever."

Sex abuse charges plagued, tarnished Michael Jackson's career
Prosecutors charged he provided young guests with unlimited candy and video games by day - and sexual assault by night.
"In the evenings, they entered into the world of the forbidden," prosecutor Ron Zonen told the California jury. "They learned about human sexuality from someone who was only too willing to teach them."
Yet the jury acquitted Jackson, even though some of its members believed the superstar had victimized other children.
"I feel that Michael Jackson has probably molested boys," juror Raymond Hultman said.
"To be in your bedroom for 365 straight days and not do something more than just watch television and eat popcorn, that doesn't make sense to me."
Jury foreman Paul Rodriguez offered the "King of Pop" some unsolicited advice after the verdict: "We would hope he doesn't sleep with children anymore."
Jackson - who never testified at his trial - became a virtual recluse after the verdict. He spent time with his own three kids, but was rarely seen in public with other children.

uggg...this guy was like a modern day Pied Piper. What a piece of shit. It makes me ill knowing Michael got away with the molestation and owing over 500 million in debt, too. None of us lowly, tax paying citizens would have even been able to step a foot in those doors....we would have been tried, convicted and sitting in jail soooooooo fast!

So, if a jury thinks he is guilty, they acquit him? Lucky break for OJ and MJ, I guess.
