I'm reading that his net worth is like $45 Million and hers is $20 Million. If they split the money down the middle and have grown kids, why would somebody with a residual net worth of about $30 Million need spousal support?

Maybe he's paying some of it monthly in lieu of a lump sum? Who knows. If he's worth twice what she is, he would still owe her something.

Aha! I was totally taken in by the one-off, non-theatrical release!

Well, my partner and I build our business together. I don't just keep the "home fires burning" I look after stock, I transport people and equipment. I can imagine that other businesses and partnerships work the same way.
She was part of the establishment & gave hin an "in" and he made some good, and bad film decisions. These things do not happen in a vacuum IMO.
You don't know what he got to keep, and if he had 1% on the backend of Sherk, $65k/ month is chump change.

Hint: 1% could be in the region of $120m.

I have often read that he is a decent person, maybe he aknowledges that she was his ticket to Hollywood and that they had some good years together and therefor is not acting like an asshole. Melanie has so many issues with drugs, alcohol and medications, she can certainly use a steady income. With all her PS, her days as Working Girl are over.

I don't really understand the whole outsiders griping about the amount of someone's alimony. They were married, they accumulated wealth during that time and this is how each party gets a share when they divorce. If they agree, isn't it their business? And they naysayers are possibly jealous? Why would one partner get to retain a disproportionate share of their family's wealth?
