I think that by now, Mary is legally blind from diabetes. A few years ago she was at a show, I believe honoring Betty White who recently turned 92. Everybody walked on stage, but for Mary's segment they showed clips and then suddenly she was standing there on the stage. Clearly a diversion to not show how incredibly frail she was. In an interview either that night or shortly before or after, Dick van Dyke said he was terribly worried and sad about Mary saying she was "not doing well at all".

I dunno...there seems to be more going on here than just Mary's failing health. As others have mentioned, home health care is available, and certainly they have the means to pay for private duty nurses. Unless Mary is refusing that as well, and expects her husband to be her 24/7 nursemaid. Which might be too much for him. Or...he's just an abusive, heartless prick who wants to be rid of his now-helpless wife.

She's a famous, beloved woman. The police have been there 9 times. By law they must press charges, or at the very least investigate, if they have suspicion of abuse. They are making it clear that they did not pursue physical abuse so I'm thinking he is not beating her.

Yeah, I get the feeling that she needs more care than one man can provide but she's stubbornly refusing. She may also be declining mentally and getting very combative. If the police suspected abuse, I have no doubt there would be a full blown investigation. It's Mary Tyler Moore!
I can't get her "Oh, Rob!"out of my head. (Ironically that's her husband's name too)
Love her. It breaks my heart what diabetes has done to her. My MIL is that age, and she's doing great and she has a much younger husband she keeps up with, so it's not the age necessarily that the problem for Mary, it's probably the disease.
Or "Mr Grant!!!". Thinking about this is really heartbreaking. Rhoda has brain cancer, Ted's gone, Betty White is in the best shape of all these people.

Obviously her husband isn't her "hero". Someone clearly needs to be.
I'll be praying for her. Sheesh, 77 !!! All those injuries![]()
This-she can afford 24 hour live in care. Why does she not have it? People do better that way unless they are also socially isolated. I wonder what is really going on? Hell most people can die in their own home with hospice care..certainly with her wealth she could have the right care and people around her at home, right?
I hope the husband is not abusing her- otherwise he must be killed.
*slaps Mel for being anti-Mary!
Don't slap me, cause I'm not in the mood!
They're rich. Why can't they hire assistants and nurses to take care of her in her home? They could turn her home into an assisted living facility that'd probably be better quality than any she would wind up in.

Mary Tyler Moore is somewhat like Lucille Ball and Lucy was around Mary's age when she died in 1989. Dick Van Dyke however is still going strong at age 88. I just hope the best for Mary and her husband Robert. Mary Tyler Moore is woman legend and she always will be like Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett and Betty White.
