What's with the extended family rushing to notify ET? Show some respect for the parents and the boy's siblings.

I am sure it is meant ET contacted him by phone, that is how I read it.

I wasn't aware that he was adopted. However if there is an atmosphere of gloom around the house it can effect people. Also depression seems to be more common among adoptees. If you'll recall Carroll O'Connor's son also committed suicide.

She will have a hard time with this-what Mother wouldn't. Her other children will help. This is so terrible.
    He's adopted.

I was wondering that as well. I don't know a lot about depression, though, so maybe it is catching.

No it's not. I guess it could be depressing to be around a depressed person, but it wouldn't put you into a clinical depression.

Very sad. I believe that Marie does some work for ET that's probably why they contacted them.

Terrible and so sad. I always feel so badly for people who lose their battle with depression and feel suicide is the only way out. What a terrible state to be in.

Ummm, you quoted my post which stated he was adopted, answering that Marie had suffered from depression. Hence, my question re "catching" depression from an adoptive parent.

I feel very sad for her family. I cannot imagine the pain she must be feeling. The kid was only 18...this must be devastating. I hope I never find out first-hand.

Agree. I just can't imagine the agony for him to think this is his only option, or for the family he left behind.

    RIP.
