She's 45 and she's lazy and likes to eat, I can kind of relate...

I have a friend/collaborator who is killing it in the music biz due to her songwriting but mostly thanks to her insane vocal range. She just told me yesterday she's on strict doctors orders (and much more so) record label orders to lay off the booze because alcohol will strip her voice much faster and harder than cigarettes or anything else.
Mariah's more known for her alcohol intake than anything else at this point so I imagine that's whats doing it. Such a shame because I was really hoping she'd kill it in Vegas.
Pretty sure MC was passed out on the floor and that's why this show was cancelled.

ALL singers lose pitch, tone and range as they age. No don't think it's fair or reasonable to expect her to belt out her big hits with the same gusto as she managed 25 years ago when she was at her vocal peak. She's made a rod for her own back because audiences (and evidently reviewers) seem to think she can achieve the same vocal gymnastics she over-sang back in the day.

Oh shit, now it looks like I'm defending her. This is temporary I assure you.

I get what you're saying A*O and I agree with you, but the vocal loss she's experienced is way above and beyond the norm. Look at Celine Dion for example, maintains incredible range and she's well into her 40's, older than Mariah.

Obviously I wasn't there, but I totally believe the review.

Don't music moguls/insurance companies try out these celebrities before they book them? Britney, Michael Jackson, Whitney - all singing disasters in their later years and still got massive contracts. You can fool some of the public some of the time? It's very arrogant to think they can just show up (and even that was too much for some of them.)

They usually sign the artist into some contact that says they get to exploit the shit out of them in the event of the artists' death so that the music execs are able to make their money back from the hit they'll take with a dead artist, MJ and AEG are the perfect example of that. As far as the insurance companies are concerned, I think they're just willing to take the gamble since it's potentially such a huge payoff for them, but insurance companies I never personally dealt with too much.

Surprisingly Britney has been ok in Vegas, and she's being turning up for her concerts lol

I think Mariah was always going to be a big gamble. We all know her voice isn't the same anymore and she's too unpredictable.

I can't remember where I saw it, but there is a picture out there from her show, about five guys are trying to hold her up and she looks humongous. Really fat thighs. I have them too but then I'm not trying to prance around on stage in tights either.

I know we expect so little from Britney that turning up is award-winning LOL. She doesn't really sing or dance anymore but people still turn up to see the sets and costumes I guess.

It looks like she is wearing 2 or 3 pair to boot! Can't let any of that leak out onstage.
