Mick Jagger is opening up about the death of girlfriend L'Wren Scott, a day after the designer was
found dead of an apparent suicide.

On Tuesday, the rocker took to Facebook to post a raw and heartfelt tribute to his designer girlfriend, who was 49.

"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way" he wrote. "We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves."

He added, "She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me," before singling out the massive outpouring of support that has flooded in: "I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received."

The rocker then closed out his message with, "I will never forget her."

Scott, who had dressed stars like Nicole Kidman and Sarah Jessica Parker was found dead inside her Manhattan apartment on Monday morning. An investigation is currently ongoing.

Following the news of her death, Jagger's band, The Rolling Stones, has canceled its upcoming tour dates in Australia.

Mick Jagger has put out a statement about his grief and confusion over the suicide of his longtime girlfriend, fashion designer L'Wren Scott.

'I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,' the Rolling Stones frontman wrote on his website on Tuesday in a post titled 'L'Wren'.

'We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.

Tribute: Jagger posted this note and picture on his official website the day after his longtime partner L'Wren Scott was found dead in an apparent suicide

In shock: Mick Jagger is seen leaving Coco's Restaurant in Perth, Western Australia, just moments after hearing the news of girlfriend L'Wren Scott's death

'She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.

'I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.

'I will never forget her,' he wrote before signing off.

The online message came almost 24 hours after news broke that his partner of nearly 13 years killed herself in her Manhattan apartment.

Scott was found dead by her assistant Monday morning and it later was revealed that her fashion line was floundering financially and she owed creditors nearly $6million.

Scott reportedly texted her assistant Brittany Penebre to 'come by' at around 8.30am and as soon as Ms Penebre arrived and discovered the body, she called 911.

Police sources say Ms Penebre has told them that her boss would have liked to have been found before the multi-million dollar apartment got messy and smelly due to the violent suicide.

Jagger was in Australia on tour with the Rolling Stones when Scott's body was found in Chelsea on Monday morning.

The band has since cancelled their scheduled show in Perth though Jagger's current location is unclear.

Heartbreaking: The singer's face was etched with grief as he left the restaurant and got into a waiting car Monday night in Perth, where the band is scheduled to begin a tour

Happy to be back: The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, arrived in Perth, Australia, early on Monday morning. They were due to kick off the six concert Australia and New Zealand tour on Wednesday but have now cancelled their planned concert in Perth

This is the second time that the 70-year-old rocker has spoken out since the death of his girlfriend.

Mick Jagger issued a statement through a spokesperson saying that he was 'completely shocked and devastated' after hearing the news and the rep replied 'of course' when asked if the pair were still in a relationship when she took her life.

His daughter Georgia May was seen making her way through Sydney Airport on Tuesday as she prepared to fly out to New York.

The 22-year-old model has cancelled an appearance at a fashion show in Melbourne after the news of Scott's death broke.

A spokesman for Camilla Franks, who Georgia was due to model for, said in a statement: 'In light of the recent sad news, Georgia May Jagger will not be participating in Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival for the Camilla Grand Showcase.

'We ask that you respect Ms. Jagger and her family's privacy at this very difficult time.

'On behalf of the Festival and the Camilla team we offer our sincere condolences to Ms. Jagger and her family.'

Too much: Jagger's model daughter Georgia May Jagger, pictured in red in June 2013 with Scott and her sister Jade Jagger, had also been also in Australia and was set to walk the runway for Aussie designer Camilla Franks in the country's upcoming fashion week in Melbourne but pulled out upon hearing the news

Separately, in an interview with the New York Daily News, former housekeeper Lupe Montufar said she was unable to explain the designer's death, and said she 'always dreamed about having fame, fortune and money'.
She said: 'She would tell me she wanted to get married and have a family, but she didn’t want to get her hopes up or say it out loud to Mick. She didn’t want to pressure him.'

'She knew there were other women, but she accepted it to be with him.'

Pictures emerged last night showing a devastated Mick Jagger just moments after he learned of the tragic death of his longtime love.

His face etched with grief, the Rolling Stones frontman looked utterly shocked Monday night as he left Coco's restaurant in Perth, Western Australia, where the band had been scheduled to begin its first tour Down Under in eight years on Wednesday. Jagger is still believed to be in Australia.

The tragic photos come after MailOnline revealed the 49-year-old fashion designer was $6million in debt to her creditors when she died and was distraught and 'embarrassed' over her failing business.

The tragic news was broken to Jagger at the upscale restaurant where he had turned up in a chauffeur-driven black limousine accompanied by another man in his thirties.

Less than an hour later, shortly before 11pm, another vehicle arrived and a woman rushed inside.

Devastated: Jagger said he was 'devastated' and in shock after hearing the news about Scott, whom he had dated since 2001

A pale and shaken Jagger emerged almost immediately and was driven away.

Scott's body was discovered in her Manhattan apartment around 10a.m. Monday, which is 10p.m. Monday in Perth.

The former model was in serious debt and seemed to be growing increasingly stressed about her financial struggles.

MailOnline can reveal the latest accounts for her business, filed in the UK in October 2013, show that the company, LS Fashion LTD, had a deficit of $5,899,548 (4,237,164 Euros), with the designer owing creditors $7.641 million (euros 5,488,125)

However, in recent years, her company's debts had doubled year-on-year - a downward spiral that showed no sign of stopping. In 2009, the debt stood at $2,120,015.67, and by 2010 it had grown to $3,063,160.87

Scott was forced to cancel her London Fashion Week show at the last minute in January, which she blamed on fabrics that arrived too late for samples to be sewn in time for the event.

Grim discovery: The designer was reportedly found hanged inside her eight floor apartment in Manhattan by her assistant

The issues surrounding her company, which was incorporated in July 2006, are the real reason she called off the event, a source said, as she could not even afford to pay for the fashion show.

Records show that Scott's apartment was bought for $5.6million in 2010 by a holding company called Scottland Management. A 2012 mortgage for $1.25million was paid off last year.

In October last year, it appeared as though L'Wren was trying to stem the financial chaos after she appointed her adopted brother, Randall Ivan Bambrough - who still lives in her home state of Utah - as a director to her company.

At the same time as Scott pulled out of London Fashion Week, she went quiet on the internet, no longer posting pictures on the photo-sharing website Instagram.

One U.S. fashion source told MailOnline: 'Everybody who knows L'Wren and Mick are totally and completely shocked. Neither of them drink and do drugs, and they were always really affectionate with each other. There were no signs of problems in their relationship.'

Another source today told The Mirror that Jagger, who is worth around £200m, has 'always supported L'Wren financially up to the hilt'.

Scott was reportedly found hanged at home by her assistant early Monday. There was no immediate suspicion of foul play though the Medical Examiner has not yet released the formal report.

Police said she had left no note - but she had sent a text to her assistant to 'come by.'

A New York City Police Department spokesman said a 49-year-old female was found unconscious on Monday at 10.05am.

Couple: Jagger and the Mormon-raised designer had been dating since 2001

The spokesman said: 'She was pronounced dead on arrival by the emergency medical services. The investigation is ongoing. We are awaiting medical examiners to determine the cause of death.'

The coroner left the building with her body at 2.45pm and police were also seen taking her computer out of the building, likely for further investigation.

Family spokesman Pierre Rugier confirmed the 'tragic death' without giving any further details.

'At this devastating time for Ms Scott's family and friends we request that their privacy be respected,' he said in a statement.

The New York Post reports that close friends- including actress Ellen Barkin- went to spend time with her body in her apartment before the medical examiner took it away for examination in the early afternoon.

One said that she had been avoiding their calls and acting strangely of late.

'They've known that something was going on, and it’s been going on for at least a week,' a friend told the paper.

Close: Mick and L'Wren pictured at the annual Serpentine Gallery Summer Party co-hosted by the designer at The Serpentine Gallery in 2013 (left) and at an event with Jagger in 2010

Decline: At the same time as Scott pulled out of London Fashion Week, she went quiet on the internet, no longer posting pictures on the photo-sharing website Instagram

The news of Scott's death stunned friends, clients and fellow designers. Hollywood star Nicole Kidman, a friend of 25 years, was 'heartbroken and in shock right now and unable to say anything,' her spokeswoman said.

Jagger and the Mormon-raised designer had been dating since 2001.

She first broke into the fashion industry as a stylist before launching an eponymous line in 2006 that was a major hit with celebrities.

Fans included Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman and Michelle Obama. She had even been tipped to design Angelina Jolie's wedding dress.

An interview with L'Wren recounted in The Mirror today, however appears to suggest a hint of insecurity within the fashion designer when she said: 'No life is ever perfect. Mine isn't. But I think I worry too much.'

Talking about their romance in a separate 2010 interview with the New York Times magazine, Jagger told how he did not want to marry again.

He said: 'To be honest, I don't really think much of marriage.

'I'm not saying its not a wonderful thing and people shouldn't do it, but its not for me.

'I just think it's perhaps not quite what its cracked up to be. I know its an elaborate fantasy.'

He added: 'I don't really subscribe to a completely normal view of what relationships should be. I have a bit more of a bohemian view.'

Just as a probably boring or seemingly pedantic (don't mean to be) aside:

There's a really good book about suicide by Thomas Joiner, and he theorizes that the most important factors in suicide are:

    a. social disconnectedness
    b. feeling like a burden
    c. ability to physically carry out the act

So, based on Joiner's theory, which considers suicide sort of apart from mood-disorder diagnoses, though those are often involved ... L'Wren may have felt incompetent and potentially like a burden owing to the troubles of her company. I would think that her knowing she might be letting down other people who depended on her for employment or who had funded her work was very hard on her.

Regarding connectedness, if Mick was screwing around more than usual, together with his being away, that might actually have been a factor. That doesn't make it his fault, but it might have made her feel disconnected in her most meaningful relationship. And we know she's said to have been pulling away from people. I'll bet it plays into the other issue--that she didn't want to burden people with her pain and sense of failure.

Ability to commit suicide, physically: Joiner says that actually killing yourself is pretty difficult (he's not the only one to say this), because it's hard to overcome the basic self-preservation instinct, and so you have to build up to it for a long time, even if only by rehearsing for it in your head. Iow, this wouldn't have been a whim, and it might have taken her months/years to reach the point of carrying out the act.

When people say suicides are cowards or took the easy way out I just want to punch them in their ignorance. There is nothing easy about suicide. Or cowardly. It is the bravest, hardest thing to do. To push aside all sense of reality at what you are doing, to be so hell bent on destruction of one self when self preservation is screaming in your head Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!, to throw away all thoughts of family or lovers or friends that could have helped, had they known, and yet to finally go through with it to the last breath knowing, still aware, that this is the end, a horror in itself, yet to the suicide, probably a relief. Aaah...all so sad, so very sad.

I don't think it's cowardly, but I don't think it is brave or necessarily "hard". I think it is an act of complete and terrible despair.

I feel bad for them. When someone has made up their mind to take their own life... The place they're in!! I read my ex fiancé's journal while she was in the hospital(she asked me) It broke my heart all over again. Her state of mind, her words, and her thoughts chilled me to the bone!! I started seeing a therapist because of it..

Mmm, the author I quoted earlier says it does take tremendous courage, but he doesn't want to glamorize suicide, because his dad killed himself and he considers the pain that leads to suicide absolutely terrible. So in a way it's both.

Don't think I didn't think about that too. Here's a check luv... What if they were married - you'd get your partner out of debt if you were worth 500 million. I know it's difficult to ask for money, but it's Mick.

    Gosh.

I have Ellen Barkin in my head and imagining when Mick sees her.

L'Wren Scott's gowns made all women look and feel fabulous | Mail Online

From Madonna to Princess Beatrice, L'Wren Scott's gowns made all women look and feel fabulous
    By Gemma Champ
    PUBLISHED: 19:23 EST, 18 March 2014 | UPDATED: 19:51 EST, 18 March 2014

From the voluptuous to the angular, the short to the gazelle-like, L’Wren Scott made all women look like screen goddesses.

Her style exuded sex appeal. Just one look at these pictures shows you the skill she had for clothing the female figure.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s tiny frame looks lean and long. Willowy Joely Richardson looks womanly. Curvy Kim Kardashian looks elegantly classy.

Spanish style: This is an unusually dramatic dress for L'Wren, but the flamenco ruffles and frills are perfect for Penelope Cruz

Like a virgin? Covered up in demure black and white, but this wiggle dress looks super-sexy on Madonna

Radiant redhead: This is figure-hugging on Princess Beatrice, but demure enough for a royal

L’Wren’s clients were dressed to enhance their shapes.

There were no overly trussed-up cleavages, rib-breaking boning or immoveably tight skirts.

Her dresses were fluid and wearable, her trademark hourglass silhouettes subtly flattering nature’s work.

Fine tailoring: The high waist makes even petite Sarah Jessica Parker's legs look long

Mad about the girl: This deceptively simple frock makes the most of Christina Hendricks's enviable curves

Towering beauty: Nicole Kidman wears this gown like liquid metal, and the gold reflects her hair

Over 6ft tall herself, she knew all about dressing a figure that deviated from the ideal.

And because of her height, she was eminently suited to dressing Nicole Kidman, manipulating waistlines and lowering hems to create the femininity and delicacy for which tall women so often yearn.

Yet she was also able to put herself into the diminutive shoes of Sarah Jessica Parker and use symmetry, lines and refined tailoring to render SJP’s doll-like proportions exquisite.

Fetching florals: Cascading embroidery lengthens and softens the shape of Sandra Bullock's gym-tight figure

Creating curves: A light wool crepe on Wendi Deng, nipped in with a black belt, works a treat

Sultry star: Kim Kardashian has the perfect figure for a L'Wren dress, all smouldering hourglass curves

Containing the luxuriant curves of Christina Hendricks is a challenge for any designer, but L’Wren succeeded in lifting and separating the bust and cinching in that tiny waist to create neater lines and hypnotic contours.

There can have been few designers more qualified to dress women on the red carpet than L’Wren — a former model, a stylist and an A-list star herself.

She had decades of experience of wearing show-stopping gowns before she turned to making them.

Blending the most classic of shapes with extraordinary artistic embellishments, patterns and unique fabrics, L’Wren knew that there is no happier star than one who knows she looks fabulous.

Tall story: Joely Richardson glows in a lovely shade of green. The sleeves and gold belt accentuate her figure

Supergown for a supermodel: Like Naomi Campbell, this dress demands attention with its feathers and sparkles
