Lindsay Lohan hospitalized after car crash

Oh my gosh - I saw the thread title and thought it was GR Christmas. But Blohan is a bloody cockroach.

I totally agree with others posting that a truck can't just cut you off, and it you were keeping the appropriate distance from one this wouldn't happen anyway. The Blohan was driving like a stupid mofo in a powerful vehicle (that she didn't own - added bonus). But how rediculous is that statement from her rep that the poor assistant didn't receive "serious injuries":

Serious injury equalling death? Because I gots feeling that if the assistant lost an eyeball from the flying glass, Blohan's rep would have still released a statement reading that the assistant wasn't seriously injured.

People is quoting the Santa Monica police as saying it was a dump truck. Dump trucks are usually considerably smaller than 18 wheelers. May not make a difference, but then again, it might.

Either way, I'm betting it was her fault and that instead of it cutting her off, she was following too close.

Lindsay Lohan escaped serious injury after a car accident Friday near the beach in Santa Monica, Calif., police tell PEOPLE.

"She was driving northbound ... and she collided with a large dump truck," says Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis. "There were no injuries to the parties in the dump truck."

After the 11:30 a.m. accident on Pacific Coast Highway, Lohan complained of pain and there were minor injuries to the passenger; both were transported to the hospital, says Lewis.

"Gratefully it's not worse," he adds. "When you have a larger vehicle and a smaller vehicle involved in a collision, those can be devastating sometimes."

Lohan's rep tells PEOPLE the accident occured on the way to the set of the Elizabeth Taylor biopic Liz & Dick.

"She was brought to Santa Monica UCLA hospital as a precaution," says the rep. "She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident."

Hollyscoop.com reports that Lohan was driving with an unidentified assistant.

"I just spoke to her, she's doing fine," a source tells Hollyscoop of Lohan. The assistant suffered minor injuries, including bruises and "some bleeding," according to Hollyscoop.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation. Several reports say Lohan was being followed by at least one paparazzi car at the time of the crash.

The Porsche's window was shattered, the bumper smashed and the airbag deployed after the crash with the truck, TMZ.com reports.

Lohan, 25, has been filming Liz & Dick for Lifetime in Los Angeles.

Only if a crime was committed or she was doing something specifically prohibited by her probation. A real accident where she was sober, not behaving recklessly, and she had a valid license won't be held against her.

Somehow I doubt that's the case, though.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lindsay Lohan emerged uninjured from a collision with a dump truck on a coastal highway near Los Angeles on Friday, returning to the set of her new movie hours after the accident left her sports car crumpled.

Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis said there was no sign Lohan was impaired at the time of the accident and said his agency would continue to investigate who was at fault in the wreck. The truck's driver was uninjured and that driver also showed no signs of driving under the influence, Lewis said.

Police are seeking witnesses to the crash, writing in a news release that detectives were trying to determine who was driving. Lohan was traveling with a male assistant to the set of her new film; the assistant was also uninjured.

"We're treating this as a regular accident," Lewis said. The agency is accepting anonymous tips about the wreck, and offering a $1,000 reward if it leads to an arrest.

The accident at around 11:40 a.m. Friday on the Pacific Coast Highway occurred while Lohan was on her way to film scenes for the Lifetime movie "Liz and Dick," which chronicles the love affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Lohan's publicist Steve Honig said the actress was released about two hours after the accident and was returned to the set to continue filming.

"Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident," he wrote in an email.

Honig declined further comment, including on who was driving, citing the pending investigation.

"First and foremost, we're concerned about the well-being of Lindsay and anyone else who may have been involved in the accident," Lifetime spokesman Les Eisner said, adding, "Lindsay has been doing fantastic work on the set of 'Liz and Dick.'"

Production on the film started earlier this week and was expected to conclude around the end of June.

Lohan, 25, remains on probation in a necklace theft case, but is no longer being supervised by a judge or probation officer.

The accident is the latest vehicular mishap for Lohan, who had her driver's license restored in August 2010 after losing her driving privileges because of a pair of DUI arrests in 2008. She is still being sued by three men who claim Lohan forced them to remain in a sport utility vehicle she commandeered and used to chase a woman she thought was her assistant on Pacific Coast Highway. That incident ended in the parking lot of the Santa Monica Police Department, where Lohan was arrested.

She is also being sued by a pedestrian who claims Lohan struck her in West Hollywood, Calif., in September 2010. That civil case is still pending.

Friday's accident comes after the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office last month determined there was insufficient evidence to pursue a case against Lohan in a nightclub manager's claim that the actress struck him with her sports car.

The prosecution said there was a lack of evidence in the case.

I see a Lifetime spokesperson got in a free plug for their movie. Which shows Lindsay and everyone else just how much they care about Lindsay Lohan. She is there for publicity. She is a circus freak show. It also seems like the cops really, really do not want her back in the system. Not that I blame them.

The guy driving the giant truck that got rear ended by Lindsay Lohan Friday tells TMZ ... LiLo was trying to flee the scene and when he tried to stop her ... her people tried to buy his silence. Lindsay was driving on the PCH yesterday when she collided with a semi-truck driven by James (we're leaving out his last name). Lohan was trailed by a Cadillac Escalade (which James refers to as a limousine) ... driving by someone connected with her Lifetime movie.James tells TMZ after the accident, he called 911 as Lindsay and her male assistant got out of the Porsche and into the Escalade. James says the assistant picked up a pink bag, "filled it up with something" and then put clothes on top of it.James claims the driver of the Escalade was trying to keep him away from the SUV. James says he wanted to exchange info with Lindsay (whom he did not recognize) but it was apparent to him she was about to flee the scene.James says the Escalade driver offered him money, saying they could "go to the bank" and withdraw some cash. James says the Escalade driver and Lindsay's assistant put on a full court press: "Him and the guy took me across the street and told me this was some kind of famous person and they didn't want to be in the media. But I'd already called 911 because they were trying to get away from the scene. But they packed a bag and then the limousine driver told me, 'Don't mention the bag to the cops.'"
