    No kidding. And in real life, he was a musician/composer, director, writer, and was an exec at Mercury Records for a time....he had a fascinating international career. But yeah, waaay too convincing as a psycho rapist killer.

    As for Freddy, I don't think he was schlocky at all in the first movie.....I was disappointed that they turned him into a one-liner machine in the subsequent (non-Craven) films.

    I think you're right. Not so much in the first movie, but in subsequent ones where he is throwing off one liners.
