Although I didn't care for the rest of the movie, Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood was worth watching for his performance. He was absolutely perfect as Shep if you read the book.

Yeah, loved him on the Rockford Files, too. With Noah Beery as his dad, although they were only 15 years apart in age. I think Garner was one of the first handsome actors who played a character as Rockford who had the look but who wasn't all James Bond-ish: cool and heroic. He could be klutzy, scared and unintentionally funny.

    RIP to a talented actor.

Can't remember anything he wasn't good in. I loved him as Jim Rockford and watch him every chance I get.

Skin Game and The Great Escape are two of my favorite films of his.

I loved that show, and that is such an excellent description of why. I loved the dad Rocky as well. Plus it was just so damn funny every time Jim would walk into his trailer and get sucker-punched or cold-cocked by some unknown person.

R.I.P. James Garner. I got the feeling you were a real mensch.

I have fond memories watching him in Maverick with my Dad, as a kid. No matter what else he had been in over the years, he will always be Bret Maverick to me. Such a class act and gentlemen. He will be greatly missed!
