And, yeah, it's obvious that he got set up by his son and the girlfriend. That's a given. But that's not the pertinent issue at hand. And I'll be the first to admit I don't think he should have his show cancelled because of something he said in private. If it was on the air, then that's a different story.
As a black man I don't personally flip out when idiots like Duane, Michael Richards or Imus shoot off their mouths. Their ignorance annoys me, but in the grand scheme of things it's not altering my life. But it's the half-ass deflection tactics that they try to use to cover it up that ticks me off.

I get that you are pissed Kingcap. Really I do. I get really pissed off about certain things too.
The problem is the same as it is with many other stereotypes... EVERYONE has to stop the hate.... so that means NO RACE may say the N word... EVER.
Just like with a girl that gets raped, because she dressed a certain way and the rapist wasnt able to control himself. BULLSHIT.
Duane Chapman is a weak man, and unable to control himself ... I cant pretend that it isnt happening in many households right now, just like I cant stop the degradation of women.... those too are weak.
I am sorry he still feels like using that word has any value whatsoever to the language.... I am also sorry it is so offensive. I dont use it. I dont intend to start. All I can do is not perpetuate its use... and never give it any power.
If there is something in particular that you want people to do, please feel free to enlighten us, as I am sure we would listen.
I do think the media is gonna milk this forever.... and nothing will be accomplished except a racial slur got a white man tossed from TV.... I really dont see the impact. All people will remember is his own flesh and blood sold him out. Such a shame.

Trust me, I'm not that pissed off. And I agree that no race should use the N-word. But then that means no race should use any other racial slur, either. Now, in a perfect world, that would happen, but, as you know, we don't live in a perfect world.
Now, I know there are white people who think that if black people didn't use the N-word that it would go away. (Not saying you, but just saying some people) But the truth of the matter is if every black person that uses the N-word stopped saying it tomorrow there would still be some racist white people who would still use it as a way to strike out at someone black.
But I think hip-hop is also a big culprit in the overuse of the N-word. When almost every hip-hop song is littered with it then it gives the impression that it's okay to use it when it's not. So, there are guilty parties on both sides, black & white.

To be honest with you Kingcap, my father said it until the day he couldnt speak anymore. I didnt like it ever. I thought it was rude and condescending. My father is 84... there is no changing that era.
What I can do is stop perpetuating it.

Honestly I wish the N word would just stop being used all together. I don't see how using it helps anyone, it only makes them (black or white) look ignorant and uneducated. Even for comedic purposes or hip hop music, it's not really needed. It's not that funny or clever to use. It certainly doesn't "help take away the power from white people" like some blacks say (as an excuse to use the word). I really just hate the fact that racism and sexism still exists in our society today. It's even worse when racists try and pretend they aren't, like Dog saying he's sorry or trying to reach out to Sharpton. He's sorry he got caught, not that he uses the word.

^^DVS, that's not a surprise with your father. People of certain generations get set in their ways. There were some black people of that same generation that refused to see themselves as anything but 'colored' because that's how they were raised. You tend to just say it's a generational thing.
But you're right the best thing for people to do is to stop perpetuating the hate.
