Now they're saying nine people were onboard. I didn't know there were helicopters that could hold so many people.

So terrible. I am so, so sorry for Vanessa, and for their kids. I am not a fan of Vanessaís, but she has been through a lot, and this is horrific. Their baby is so young. =(

NTSB rep speaking on MSNBC said that that particular Sikorsky helicopter could hold up to 12 people.

OK -- dragging Trump into this, because it is yet another example of what an ass he is. First tweet from Trump about this is typical Trump -- This is terrible news! No condolences, no warmth, etc. Contrast with one from Obama that was heartfelt and eloquent. I couldn't find the original article with both tweets, so I went to Trump's twitter. Now there is this fairly well written tweet expressing sympathy. Obviously, the fact that Obama upstaged him, caused him to have a staffer write a tweet for him. No way he wrote it himself, and the comments about that fact are priceless.

I still have a lump in my stomach about this. It really makes you realize how precious and fleeting life is. Somehow when celebs die tragically like that it is something we can share and understand. I don't know if I'm stating this right -- collective grief?

I just couldn't comprehend this when I read about it this morning. Superstars don't usually die tragically and then to find out his daughter was taken as well. All very sad. Heartbreaking for the family.

I honestly thought they divorced years ago, I didnít realize they stayed together after all that drama so this must be especially hard for her. But we had some serious fog here in SoCal over the weekend. I work nights 3 nights a week, and during my drive home at midnight on Friday, it was like driving thru a swamp on the highway, so scary. I hadnít seen it that bad in years. You could barely see the guardrails. I thought Helicopters didnít fly in bad conditions? I wonder how well regulated they are, I donít think itís strict like the FAA????

Didn't they say the helicopter was a Sikorsky? Sikorsky's a serious helicopters (including military) and most of their models are not little things that one or two people fly around in.

I thought I had heard it was also a personal helicopter too. Many rich folk who live up in those gated communities have built in these heli-pads just to commute to the valley. My daughterís classmate has friends up in the area where the crash happened who are claiming they have some video footage from their cellphone camera showing the helicopter spinning out of control. I wonder if they clipped a power line or something. Does anyone remember that horrible Helicopter crash on the set of the Twilight Zone movie back in the 80ís? That was such a tragic accident. Several child actors died during the crash.

Yeah, that was Vic Morrow and two small Asian children, I think. His character was supposed to be a racist who gets thrown into a situation that helps him see what an a-hole he was. Then, he is supposed to rescue two small children in 'Nam in the climax. But there was an accident with the helicopter they were using and it basically crashed onto Morrow and the kids, killing them. People held the director Jon Landis mostly responsible and there was some kind of trial. I think he was persona non grata for a while, but then recovered with the "Thriller" video and then "Coming to America".

So incredibly tragic. On Instagram, there are many pictures of Kobe and Gigi and their bond was so sweet. It's so sad.
