I'm pretty sure that the FAA requires that kind of stuff. They should be able to figure out what happened, although it appears obvious that the pilot was flying in conditions he had no okay to fly in. I wouldn't be surprised if they release the cockpit transcript at some point. Such a senseless tragedy.

Wreckage of the crashed helicopter that was carrying former NBA star Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna smolders on the ground on January 26, 2020 in Calabasas, California. According to reports, five.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department shared graphic images of victims' remains and the scene of a helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and eight others, according to a report published Thursday.
A sheriff's department official told NBCLA the "matter is being looked into."
Deputy Erin Liu of the Sheriff's Information Bureau told City News Service the department would not comment on the report Thursday night.
It's unclear how many people saw or received the photos without authorization or whether the deputies had taken the photos at the scene or received them from someone else, according to The Times, who spoke with two public safety sources with knowledge of the events.
The sharing of photos of the crash scene and the victims' remains was the topic of a discussion among first responders two days after the crash, a public safety source with knowledge of the events told The Times. The source said he saw one of the photos in a setting separate from the crash's investigation.
The sheriff's department and other Los Angeles-area law enforcement agencies have struggled with keeping confidential information in high-profile cases from being shared in the past.

Vanessa Bryant claims mom is trying to ‘extort’ the family with suit
Vanessa Bryant claims her mother is trying to “extort” her family with a lawsuit that she filed against the widow earlier this week, according to a report.
Sofia Laine claims in her new suit that Kobe Bryant promised to take care of her indefinitely — but after his January death, Vanessa has failed to make good on the commitment and has even ordered her to move out of the home that the basketball player let her live in, TMZ reported.
Laine claimed in her suit that she was the couple’s nanny for 18 years, working long hours without breaks or meals including on holidays and weekends all without pay, the outlet reported.
Vanessa called her mom’s lawsuit “frivolous, disgraceful, and unimaginably hurtful,” according to the report.
Vanessa said Laine was never a personal assistant or nanny for the family, noting that as a stay-at-home mom Vanessa took care of their daughters full time herself, according to the report.
“She watched our girls from time to time, just like most grandparents do,” Vanessa said adding that Laine is now seeking $96 per hour in back pay for the near two-decades of claimed unpaid work, according to the outlet.
“My mother is continuing to try and find ways to extort a financial windfall from our family,” Vanessa said, according to TMZ.
Vanessa claimed she supported her mom for 20 years and that the pair let Laine live on one of their properties for free. Then, when Vanessa began seeking a new home for her mom “a week later, she went on television and gave an interview disparaging our family,” according to the report.
Vanessa claims she has tried to work things out with her mom who eventually “demanded $5 million, a house and a Mercedes SUV,” the outlet reported.
“She is now trying to get more money than my husband and I ever spent to provide for her while he was alive,” Vanessa said. “She has no regard for how this is affecting my children and me.”
Vanessa claimed her mom is seeking this money all while she is still getting alimony after her 2004 divorce.
“My husband never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy,” the statement concluded, according to the outlet.
NBA star Kobe died Jan. 26 in a helicopter crash that also killed his and Vanessa’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.
Since Kobe’s death Vanessa has been embroiled in various legal battles after she filed a wrongful death lawsuit seeking hundreds of millions from the helicopter company and the dead pilot’s estate. Vanessa also sued the Los Angeles County Sheriff for sharing graphic photos of the crash.

can't post pics because my computer's broken and i'm stupid
If I could pay for my parents to have a nice home (not a mansion, but something nice & modest in a safe area) & a brand new automobile (not a Mercedes SUV, unless that's what I felt like) I'd do it in a heartbeat. But her mom does sound very entitled, which I could see why that would make Vanessa be like, "fuck off, pay your own way." Her mom comes off looking like a twat in this article.
I wonder how much per month/year her mom gets from alimony.
It really sucks that Kobe and Vanessa both suffered from greedy parents who sold them out at every turn.
