LOS ANGELES (AP) — Russell Brand and Katy Perry are getting a divorce.
The 36-year-old comedian said Friday: "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."
Brand and the pop singer married in October 2010.

She seems more like a ditz than a brat. Russell always struck me as being very witty and on his toes, so maybe they're personalities just clashed and sex wasn't the glue (lube?) that could keep their relationship together.

Supposedly they had a big fight over how he didn't respect her parent's Christian beliefs (her folks are both pastors).

I know she's not a crazy fundie Christian anymore (she started out as a Christian singer), but she claims to still be a Christian and I thought he was an avowed atheist. I just could never see him settling down for the long haul with anyone who was religious, used to be religious or is surrounded by a super-religious family. And I think her fault was in marrying Russell Brand if religion was going to be important to her at all, even just for the sake of her parents. She tried to call him her "man of God" and shit like that, and it's just...no. Don't try and make over your spouse into something he or she is not.

Well, christian gospel records don't really sell as many CDs as pop music does... So I guess her ambition & need to be famous won over her commitment to her gospel music.
I think that Rollo is right that she needed to dispel her goody two shoes image (despite how many times she's been photographed in her underwear *rolls eyes*) and he wanted to break into the US. Whatever they say I think that contributed.
Didn't they get married really quickly because she "made him wait" for sex?

I think it's both. Yes, he was a man slut, but I was always curious as to how they could work with her partying. He's supposed to be sober. She's always out getting wasted. By the way, nothing wrong with getting wasted! Anyways, he seems to crave attention from women, whilst she craves attention from fans and is a bit bratty. She doesn't seem like the type to go out of her way making Russell feel like the sex god he thinks he is. He also isn't the type to be a lapdog sucking up to her. I can see her pulling a big strop and him just not giving in.

Oh, thank GOD they're separating. Russ' look went from 'designer rockstar grunge', to a cast member of The Real L Word, thanks to Katy's remodelling/make-over.

He's too intelligent for her anyway.
