Jessica Biel: ‘It Took a Leap of Faith’ to Wear a Pink Wedding Dress

We were as surprised as anyone to see Jessica Biel in a pink gown on her wedding day. And as it turns out, the bride herself was a bit surprised about the unconventional choice, too.

“[Giambattista Valli] had created that same fabric in a fuchsia-and-pink combination for a dress in a previous collection,” Biel says in the January issue of ELLE. “And I asked him if he could create that same pattern in a white combination, and he suggested pink.”

The final result was, of course, that now-famous dress: a custom petal-pink strapless gown of silk mousseline and silk organza with a light-pink floral motif. “It was a bit of a leap of faith at the time, but it turned out better than I could have ever imagined,” she admits in the cover story. “[Putting it on], I felt like I had made the right choice. I felt elegant. And it moved like a dream.”

Though Biel was somewhat hesitant to wear a pink gown, she never envisioned herself walking down the aisle in anything particularly traditional, either.

“I have never been crazy about all-white wedding dresses, for me at least,” she says. “I wanted the dress to be very romantic and feminine and a shape that I very rarely wear.” Well, we’d say mission accomplished.

The homeless man who was mocked in a video produced by one of Justin Timberlake's friends as a joke leading up to the singer's marriage to actress Jessica Biel says he wants Timberlake to come visit him on Skid Row.
The 57-year-old man, who identified himself as 'Eddie,' held a press conference on Monday, Christmas Eve, with his lawyer, feminist attorney Gloria Allred.
'I just want Justin Timberlake to come and talk to me about the things he can do to help us people that's down and out and that's lost things in our lives and not back on track,' Eddie read from an open letter during the press conference.
He said he would like to take Timberlake on a tour of 'Skid Row and other places where we the homeless live and talk with you about what you can do to help us.'
His comments served as a response to a statement that Timberlake, 31, posted on his website explaining the situation surrounding the video and apologizing to those who were offended by it.

Allred also challenged Timberlake and his friends to 'take action to provide meaningful assistance to Eddie and others like him.'
'This issue is not just about fans being upset or anyone being offended by a video,' Allred said. 'It is about people being down on their luck and in desperate need of help by those who are in a position to provide it.

'Mr. Timberlake, you, and your friends and others are in a position to provide that help.'
Allred is known best for representing women in sexual discrimination lawsuits and is also known for taking on high-profile celebrities.
Her past clients include the family of Nicole Brown Simpson, who she represented during the O. J. Simpson murder trial, nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel, who was accused of having an affair with Tiger Woods in 2009, Tony Barretto, a former bodyguard of pop singer Britney Spears, and several former Circuit City employees, who sued the company for age discrimination.

In August 1997, Allred represented former supermodel Kelly Fisher when she sued the late Dodi Fayed for allegedly breaking off their engagement to begin his highly-publicized relationship with the late Princess Diana of Wales.

Due to Allred's prior cases against high-profile celebrities, it is not a stretch for her to set her sights on Timberlake. Allred did not return requests for comments on Monday.

The controversial video featuring Eddie was created by Timberlake's real estate friend Justin Huchel.
It shows real homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles purporting to be acquaintances who couldn't make it to the couple's $6.5 million ceremony in Puglia, Italy, on October 19.

Timberlake was eager to distance himself from the controversy, making it clear he had 'no knowledge of its existence' and had 'absolutely ZERO contribution to it.'

But that clearly was not enough for Eddie, who is still homeless and unemployed two months after the video was made public.

'Ms. Allred and 'Eddie' will point out specific meaningful action that Timberlake can take to help 'Eddie' and the homeless,' Allred said in a statement released to the media prior to the conference.

Timberlake's apology letter was 700 words long and maintained that he did not know anything about the video before it aired though he still held himself accountable.

He wrote: 'My friends are good people. This was clearly a lapse in judgment which I'm sure no one who is reading this is exempt from. But, I don't believe it was made to be insensitive.

'More so, I think it was made as a joke on me not having that many friends attending my own wedding (which IS kind of funny if you think about it).'
'I think we can all agree that it was distasteful, even though that was not its intention,' he wrote.

'I want to say that, on behalf of my friends, family, and associative knuckleheads, I am deeply sorry to anyone who was offended by the video. Again, it was something that I was not made aware of. But, I do understand the reaction and, by association, I am holding myself accountable.'

Earlier this week, gossip website TMZ tracked down Eddie, who was featured at the beginning of the video.

The homeless man told the site he was minding his own business on the streets of Hollywood when he was approached by a man who offered him money in exchange for saying a few pre-written lines into the camera.
Wearing a shabby coat, Eddie says: 'Jessica and Justin, I ain't seen y'all in a while. The gift is in the mail.'

When he found out what his little piece to camera was being used for, he looked upset and said: 'That makes me feel real bad ... that was a trick played on me.'
Eddie is now on the lookout for a job to get him off the streets and told TMZ: 'I'm gonna do my best to change my life.'
The video, which was first obtained byGawker and was allegedly shown at the celebrity couple's post-ceremony bash, starts with the message, 'Greetings from your Hollywood friends who just couldn't make it.'

After Eddie's appearance, the film switches to a transvestite, who tells 30-year-old Biel: 'Good luck and watch your man.'
It closes with a shirtless bearded man, who says: 'Justin, Jessica, it's me, Herbert.'
The full video is 8 min and 30 secs long, and at points features Timberlake's solo hit 'SexyBack.'
A man's voice is heard speaking off-camera at one point, apparently Huchel's, and he asks a man when he last saw Timberlake and Biel, adding, 'Did you and Jessica mess around?'

After the brief messages it fades to black screen with the titling, 'Love Huch and Rachel.'
Huchel's attorney Michael Saltz confirmed the video was shown to guests at the wedding in a letter sent to Gawker after the real estate agent was approached by reporters for comment.

Saltz wrote: 'Mr. Huchel made [the] video to be used and exhibited privately at Justin Timberlake's wedding as a private joke without Mr Timberlake's knowledge.'
The lawyer also threatened to 'immediately file suit' if the video was publicized as it would be infringing on Huchel's copyright.
The video was screened against a backdrop of A-list extravagance.

The newly-wed star couple spared no expense on their nuptials which cost them $6.5 million, according to entertainment news site HollyScoop.

Around $1 million was put down on renting out the fancy Italian resort and around $100,000 spent on entertaining their 80 guests with fireworks, dinner parties and bike rides.

The usually private and very wealthy couple decided to cash in on their romantic day by selling the pictures to the press.

Timberlake and Biel pocketed an estimated $300,000 for copies of their wedding photos by striking a deal with People and Hello! magazines to publish pictures of their nuptials.

The leaking of the video is sure to be a lingering embarrassment for well-known philanthropist Timberlake, who previously donated an item to watchmaker Nixon to be made into a watch.
The sale of the watch benefited the MusiCares MAP Fund which helps address addiction and recovery needs of members of the music community.
Timberlake also recently teamed up with REM’s Michael Stipe for a charity single to continue aid for Hurricane Katrina victims; proceeds benefit Mercy Corps.

And last year he was awarded the Big Help award for his charity work at the 2011 Kids’ Choice Awards held at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles.


Biel meanwhile has appeared in videos supporting GoodSearch and Much Love, as well as founding the Make The Difference Network with her family.
Huchel’s lawyer's attempts to distance the former boy band singer from the video has not made him immune to scathing criticism from 'former' fans.
'It’s official I am no longer a @jtimberlake fan!! Unfollowing you right now! Mocking the homeless is wrong!' tweeted @StephBreezy678.

Others condemned the video as 'tacky' and 'disgusting.'

Actor Rob Lowe was also shocked by the video and tweeted: 'Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel Wedding Video Featuring Homeless Draws Criticism. Wow.'
Responses started to flood the Web not long after the couple revealed the first picture of their October wedding ceremony in the pages of People magazine
