this was also in south america so cost of living (and hired help) is cheaper there. if this had happened when he was back home, there might have been fewer perks but still, they wouldn't have had to worry about housework in addition to taking care of the baby and probably would still have a night nurse for the first few months at least.

i mean, if you're gonna have a kid with a 53 year-old, he better be at least comfortable

I wouldn’t even have that. My mom would visit and maybe stay a night or two. She’s not a big baby fan.

I have a soft spot for John. His parents lived by my old boyfriend. One day driving, he saw John and was of course, stoned. Pulled up the shitty car and gave some stupid hand shake. John was nice about it and laughed it off.

There has something I read about John that has made me uneasy for years. I read a way back he had some inappropriate relationship with some teen girls. Does anyone remember those pesky rumors? But I have always had a soft spot for him so I am happy for him.

I vaguely remember something like that too, now that you mention it.

IIRC, didn't they split because he wanted kids, but she didn't because her career was just taking off?

^Oh dear, my dad was 51 when he had me! I guess GR members must think that explains a lot, now. Tsk. The fun part is that I see a lot of the problems described in that research in people who only differ the average amount of years with their parents, between 20-40.

A good friend of mine just had a child and he's around the same age. I dont think it's good to wait so long but hey, they finally did it!

Can I just add a side note that it makes a change for fathers to be getting the blame for something instead of the seemingly weekly 'look what women are doing to their unborn baybeez by being too old/too young/eating/breathing/sleeping" scare stories?
