John Edwards sex scandal could derail 2008 Presidential campaign

It was pointed out last night that Howard Dean was at 20% in the last election (where Edwards is now) and he pulled way up in the polls until his roaring debacle. This election is going to be different though. They've been hawking Hillary for six months now and there's a year to go. Backrunners tend to come up later in the game.

Hilary will get the democratic nomination. Barack does not have enough experience or follow through, and he panders to whomever he's around at the time. Hilary already understands the job, since she spent 8 years as the first lady, and has tremendous political experience. I will be voting for her, 100 percent. There's no way I would vote for Obama. It doesn't matter what Edwards does, though, since there's no way he'll get the nomination. It's between Hilary and Barack, and Hilary will get it. Mark my words.

No he didnt. He sat down and spoke with the Advocate on that issue and his record has been really clear about supporting gays. That was admitedly a bad call but he didnt endorse the guys views and Obama was really clear about that.

I attended a fundraiser for Obama in LA and he was in town for the sole purpose of participating in a gay rights symposium. He is 110% for gay rights. Read up on it, I promise it isnt as it seems.

How can you guys seriously support Hillary?! Shes awful! Cold, calculating and she couldnt stand up to the heat in last nights debate. She strikes me as so untrustworthy. I dont even understand how people like her. I have really tried and I just dont get it.

Thanks but Bill screwed people at least half as bad as the Repugs have. One of the few things that saved his economic rep was the internet boom.

Yes, it is. He had 3 chances to redeem himself and instead went for the black baptist bigot vote. If he was really for gay rights, he'd have dropped that idiot the first chance someone alerted him to it.

He didn't.

He kept him on because his audience likes him, and likes his homophobic "jesus can cure you of gayness, cuz if you're gay there's somethign WRONG WITH YOU" message. That means gays got thrown under a bus.

Me either, I don't trust any of them even though any one of them would be better than Bush.. but that isn't much of a yardstick to measure them by. A wet dishrag could do a better job.

Sigh. I am terrible at convincing people to vote one way or another. I only know that I am very well-read and have looked at all the candidates and Obama is the right one for me.

I hate this shitstorm over the gay rights because I really feel that he doesn't feel that way. I have met him twice and he really is decent, grounded, very intelligent and educated, empathetic and charismatic, and a true leader. That is so much more than we can say for any of the other canidates. Grimm, have a look at his site on gay issues. He scored an 89 out of 100 by the Human Rights Campaign on LGBT issues, better (i believe) than any of the other (mainsteam) canidates: BarackObama.com | Obama Pride Home

And it isnt like he has no experience: if you look at his background, he's served in the Illinois State Senate for 8 years, now the US Senate for 2 years, and he's had years and years of experience working in the communities in Chicago in housing projects and on social issues. If you want to get right to it, Hilary only has 6 years in the Senate.

I dont want this to get into a pissing contest. I've said my bit, I'm done.
