That is really interesting MsDark & my understanding of “triggers”

I’m tired of being lectured by posters that magically *know* that their opinion is worthy of eleventy paragraphs of rant.

    There's also the plain old (and simple) dictionary definition (not all psychology has to be about 'trauma');

    triggered
    /ˈtrɪɡəd/
    adjective

(of a mechanism) activated by a trigger.

racism being the 'emotional' trigger......via deliberately 'dumb' articles chasing 'hits' and easy internet ad revenue through emotive manipulation, rather than say attempting to genuinely inform readers..... or prompt real discussions.

It leads to weird shit, like even simple words becoming confusing when not meeting 'easily dismissed' and assumed/pre-conceived biases such as..... 'it must be right wing'. (I don't think the right wing knobs created the word 'clickbait' either).

Triggered is and was a pretty simple word (and psychological/marketing term) WAY before right wing dickheads tried to co-opt it......or others then also used it to dismiss when convenient...... kinda like the term 'RACISM'......John's pomp and snobbery.....or even me and my 'talking down' to folks.

I think there's a place for multiculturalism AND culture.......but I don't think it should be a BS binary either/or argument (like that ol' G Bush doozey 'you're either with us or against us' faux choice BS)..... and it probably wouldn't be such a divided tribal mess if folks went a bit deeper than being caught and hung up on the 'offence' of a different opinion.

John's ALWAYS has been a pompous git, who yes probably looks down on people.....unlike us and our BETTER 'more progressive' views than HIS.

Are you, in all seriousness trying to suggest that a situation as horrible and paralysing as a PTSD flashback is equated to clickbait??? And it doesn’t matter that you used more words to describe it you are still banging on about clickbait.
Is this part of your theses or something?

Your definition doesn’t work because it specifies that it is triggered by a mechanisms (like a physical switch - to be clear) not the second definition which is the physiological one and it specifically mentions trauma.

Nice try cropping your source though, to fit your agenda.

    triggered

If by 'here' you mean condescension, I think you've more than achieved it.

Not my intention. It's just an observation.

    I still don't see where you're going.

Why are other people’s reactions to the story BS? There is more than one valid viewpoint other than yours. #truefact

You might want to work a bit more on your passive aggressive then.......or at the very least, on 'owning' your bitchiness
