Joan did a great documentary a few years back, about her life. It was really interesting. This woman is all business all the time--never slows down for a minute. I hope she fully recovers and sticks around a few more years, as I think she's freaking hilarious, if acidic.
I really enjoyed that documentary too; I hope she fully recovers.
I guess I'll be the negative one- I can't stand her. I don't wish her dead or anything but she's awful and I can't muster up any sympathy for her.... that sounds bad, but I don't care.

Joan Rivers is on life support ... and sources close to the legendary comedian tell TMZ she is completely reliant on machines to stay alive.
According to our sources, the family will have to decide in the next couple of days whether to keep the 81-year-old on life support. We're told the family remains hopeful that if they do decide to turn off the machines, she will make a turn for the better and fight through it.
As TMZ first reported, Rivers was rushed to the hospital after she stopped breathing during throat surgery on Thursday.

Regardless of whether or not I like Joan Rivers, this kind of thing makes me so sad (if it's true). It was just last year that my family was put into a similar position with my dad, and it's really tough. I wish everyone the best.

I'm not her biggest fan (comedy-wise), I like her comedic style generally, although some of the comments/jokes are sometimes too brash for my personal taste.
But that aside, I respect her, she is one of the very few pioneers of her field. She paved the way for a lot of women in entertainment.
Prayers to her and her family...

Dang. I'm not a fan of hers either, but I hope she makes it. I haven't known too many people who have survived off life-support, unfortunately.

Best wishes to Joan. Thankfully, the McMath family is not in charge of her care.

There was a time when I thought she was funny, but I feel like as she's gotten older she's become more vulgar and inappropriate -- at least for my tastes. I used to love watching her on Fashion Police but haven't been able to for years. That being said, I really feel for her family right now. Horrible position to be in. I don't know when I've ever heard of someone pulling out of it when the machines are turned off. I wish her peace.
I thought she was funny, a hundred years ago. She's just been vile these past few years. Having said that I wouldn't want to wish she doesn't make it.
To lose two influential US comedians within weeks of each other...wow. I do hope she makes it. She gets on my nerves too a lot, but she is who she is. But she is 81 and she does not slow down from what I can see.
One of my old drinking buddies actually was one of Melissa's professors at the University of Pennsylvania. He met Joan at Melissa's graduation - he claims Joan AND Melissa were doing lines. And that she was furious with Edgar for taking his life like he did. Comics can be some of the saddest people you met, and also some of the angriest.

I've read more than once that she was very angry at Edgar as well.

She's not my cup of tea.. But I do think she's a tough broad which she had to be coming into comedy when she did!! C'mon Joan!!
