I'm Colombian born and raised in Pereira and I've never heard of that.
Not that I am attacking you or anything, it's just that none of my cousins and nephews, friends kids (or myself) have had their heads shaven as babies. They think it's equivalent to child abuse!

I live in Southern California by the border and I have never seen or heard of that tradition.

hey pretty girl; i know what you're talking about; it pisses me off. my bf's brother did this to his baby girl and besides piercing her ears as a baby i found it really disturbing and totally and completely unnecessary! that doesnt even work, ask any dermatologist. trust me i know and piercing babies ears is sick imo too, but thats just my personal opinion. my strict ass dad made me wait till i was 12!!!!!! lol

i was an ugly ass baby too  my mom says i wasnt b/c she's my mom duh, but i've seen the pics and i was skinny and ugly and looked like a boy!!!! lol like these babies; its true; chubby babies are a lot more attractive!

I know this site is all about talking shit and that's fun, but I just can't bring myself to say bad things about a baby. I know some kids are cuter than others and I know many of you are being sarcastic, but I just can't go there. I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old and even though I'm generally pretty secure, it would hurt to read something like that about my innocent babes. Those poor babies can't help it if their parents suck.
Ok. I'll step off my soapbox now.
As for the head shaving thing, it's not just a Latin thing. I'm in Southern California too and I've had a few people tell me to shave my daughter's head. Unfortunately, she has a mullet even though we haven't touched her hair. I'm not shaving her head though, we're just getting creative with hair clippies.
