Thread: Jennifer Aniston ‘frustrated’ by being ‘stereotyped’ as a comedienne

She reminds me a bit of Meg Ryan, in that when she tried to go outside her rom-com roles, people weren't particularly interested in going to see those films. Even if Meg Ryan could demonstrate that range, the people who loved her in those rom-coms didn't seem to want her to leave that niche. I think maybe JA is in the same boat.

I really loathed Friends so perhaps I'm not the best judge.

She makes a gazillion dollars doing what she does so I imagine it's easy to stay in that lofty comfort zone. Plus she doesn't strike me as a risk taker anyway.

I think it made sense to do rom coms to transition to big screen. It's how the public viewed/loved her and it helped in getting the public to see her as a "movie" star. Unfortunately, her non comedy roles haven't done well enough to change the public perception of her as rom com girl.
